ghost messages (spooky!)

My browser / operating system: Linux, Firefox 126.0, No Flash versions detected

note: this is not simply messages turning “read” as soon as i click onto the page. they stay there for days.

a bug i've started noticing recently is what i refer to as “ghost messages.” basically, it's a number from 1-4 that randomly appears in the messages box, even though there are no messages. i've noticed this only on 2.0 pages.

is this a known bug? why is it happening?

i am almost convinced this happens on the forums as well. sometimes when a new post is made it doesn’t redirect me to that post but instead the topic.

This happens to me! It's no longer happening as of today though…
When it was happening, ghost messages only appeared on 2.0 pages.

It still happens to me, as well. No matter how many times I reload the page, I still have ‘new messages’. Even when it's GONE, in the next hour, it appears again and there's no messages that I haven't read.
