Stamps - The new Copy/Paste

So, I got an idea.
I think it would be cool if copy/paste was replaced with “stamps”. Basically, you click the copy stamp like normal like how it is now, and then you drag the paste stamp wherever you wanna place it.. However, I think somewhere in the project editor there should be a way to make it so that it’s normal and you just need to click it like how it is now, so basically a toggle to turn the drag thing on/off.
The benefits for this are that this can be fun and more interactive, what can go wrong with that? And that way, it can paste where you want it to! And it’s cool anyways-
Here’s a mock-up:

I support, mainly because it could inspire new ideas on how to use the copy and paste, and makes it more accessible, no more dragging to copy or paste!

She means stamping to copy and paste in costumes, read the original OP.

Wait, what? You said “no more dragging to copy/paste” so I’m a bit confused because isn’t dragging to copy/paste the suggestion? Did you see the mock-up?

How would it know to copy the entire cat instead of just part of it. Currently, if I click on part of the cat and press “Copy”, it just copied the part I clicked on. I have to select the whole cat before I can copy it, which doesn't seem like it would be possible with stamps.

Edit: You could group it, but I don't know you could copy the entire cat without doing so.

Not that kind of stamp. This will work just like copy/paste in the editor, the difference is that the technique of using copy/paste is different and I the buttons look different., did you see the mock-up?

No I that when you paste, the copy gets pasted in dead center, but with the stamp you can easily place it anywhere you want(makes it more accessible for mobile users).

Hmmm, what if you could do the selecting thing where you can select multiple stuff while holding the stamp?

How would this work on mobile devices? There doesn't seem to be a easy way to select multiple objects at once, and in my (4 year long) experience using Scratch on an iPad, that's typically the easiest way to copy relatively small items, especially ones smaller than your finger. Being able to paste it wherever you want, on the other hand, would be a very useful feature.

Remember, this CAN be disabled. And read OP again, because MythosLore brought up the point of selecting multiple things and I thought of a solution.

Okay erm now that I think about it, being able to select multiple things now how it works now and also being able to select stuff like in the mock-up seems a bit tricky - Any ideas on how it could work?

Edit: what if I scrapped the idea of dragging the copy stamp, and you only drag the paste one?

I think it would make more sense with the paste one.

I mean something like dragging a selection box, what happens if you hold the left mouse button down in the costume editor and drag.

I updated the suggestion, look. The copy thing will no longer drag

This sounds a lot like Scratch 2.0's editor, and the icon was also kinda like the stamping icon here too. There was even a way to drag while you were doing this..

Why does it matter that it was this way in 2.0?
