Pride flag related sprites in the Scratch sprite library

I’d like it if some Pride related sprites were added to Scratch’s sprite library! These could be sprites of flags which have different Pride flag colors on them as well as a template flag for people to make their own custom flags. There could also be sprites of people who have Pride flag colored clothes or pins.
Maybe there could also be sprites of trans people, and sprites representing queer relationships, like two girls holding hands (and boys too of course!).

LGBTQ related sprites would be great to represent more people! The library already has some sprites of disabled people, it should also have sprites of LGBTQ people too!

They sort-of have a person representing Pride, being Sasha, in the sprite library

I would also like to see some pride related sprites as lots of people rely on the scratch made ones as they find it difficult to draw them. In the sprite library there could be all of the pride flags or even just people wearing pride t-shirts would be great. I think this would be a great addition as it shows how inclusive scratch is. Thank you.

You will undoubtedly get a response that is something like “There are so many Pride flags that the Scratch Team shouldn't add them all, and if they add one then they should add all of them, no support.”

First of all, they certainly could add all the Pride flags.

But now
let's assume that they couldn't. I'm interested in your thoughts: what specific Pride flags should definitely be included if the Scratch Team were to implement your suggestion?

Well, they could include the “main” ones, which are what the letters in LGBTQ stand for
Lesbian
Gay
Bisexual
Trans
And Queer (the rainbow flag)
There’s also LGBTQIA, which is Intersex and Asexual
Then they could have a few plank flag templates for people to create custom flags which aren’t included, like flags which are gray with varying amounts of stripes which people can recolor into their flags. That way people can add in any flags which aren’t included, and they can make projects starring their custom flags so other people can use them! The flag templates could also be used for creating the flags of various countries and other locations too. A flag sprite would be very versatile!

I would love if this was added! also just general representation of diversity - I like that a few sprites are wheelchair users for example, and this could similarly be done with LGBTQ+ sprites (using badges or flags or just more diverse gender presentations in terms of clothing/hairstyle, name and body type), and/or more neurodivergent or disabled sprites with various accommodations like AAC, fidget tools or headphones.

flags that could be added, if there are flags:
(flags in smaller text probably wouldn't be worth adding if the idea is to add just a few main flags, but I've included them in case they're useful for anything, just since I know they exist and not everyone would.)

- progress pride flag

- rainbow flag (can be used to represent LGBTQ+ in any way)

> lesbian flag, bisexual flag
> gay MLM flag, pansexual flag
>> omnisexual flag, polysexual flag, abrosexual flag

- straight ally flag

- transgender flag (trans can be an umbrella term for any gender that isn't cisgender, so if nothing else was added, this would at least include that)

> nonbinary flag
> genderqueer flag, genderfluid flag
>> demigirl/demiboy flag, agender flag

- asexual flag (even if no other a-spectrum flags are added, asexual can be used as an umbrella term to represent the asexual and aromantic spectrum)

> aromantic flag, aroace flag
>> demisexual/demiromantic flag, greysexual/greyromantic flag

- intersex flag

- disability pride flag

> rainbow infinity symbol while we're at it because neurodiversity is my spinterest and I can't write a single post without mentioning it /hj
>> autistic pride flag, ADHD pride flag

I really like the idea of a flag template, some with stripes to fill in would be good but even just a blank one in the shape of a flag would be really cool. and that could be used for designing country flags and made-up flags and stuff too (which would have satisfied my younger self to my heart's content)

This could be good, but then wouldn't they also need a Juneteenth flag, and a few others?

Juneteenth has nothing to do with Pride, so adding Pride flag sprites would not necessarily mean that a Juneteeth flag sprite would need to be implemented.

Not counting Xenogenders (which is almost everything),

(We have 2779 xenogenders)

Anyway though i’m not against this really, i just laughed when i remembered how many genders are there (not counting sexualities)
More LGBTQ+ related sprites would be cool (there’s only sasha w/ the trans flag iirc)

There's literally a “gender wiki” that says it has more than 4500 pages..

There is already a flag sprite in the library that’s a picture of Scratch’s green flag, but it’s just one solid color so it’s harder to edit it. A different flag design with a defined outline rather than being lineless and a solid color would be better for easier editing purposes

I’ve seen that. But it’s cause people coin genders in that wiki. I don’t think we’d need flags for all neogenders and xenogenders because that’d be impossible to add.

Well, coming from my post above, removing all xenogenders and neogenders would result in at least over 1600 flags

The same could be said for every single sprite in the library, yet they are there. It’s for people who might not be able to draw and to make things more convenient. It’s much easier being able to get the sprite you need directly from the library than drawing it yourself or looking online for the image,
Scratch requires people to credit the sources of all content used on site, and it might be hard to remember all of the image sources for images you find online.

Let's be honest here, most people don't cite their sources of photos and such, and no one really cares. There's simply a huge variety in Pride Flags so I think it would make more sense for a person to add their own flags. How often would a pride flag even need to be added anyway for 99% of Scratch users?

I believe there are better uses of the ST's time, like adding things that have been wanted for years, like the exponent reporter.

Why are people conflicted on how many flags would need to be added? IMO, there are no more than like 5 that are actually notable enough to include.

I think lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, and of course the rainbow. Maybe intersex, too. All other pride flags I can think of (except the bear and leather flags which I don't think should be included because they were kind of phased out as pride became kid-friendly) were made after 2010 and published on DA or Tumblr and haven't received much mainstream notoriety sense.
^ ^
And this is why I also support the idea of a pride flag template.

“No one really cares,” whether true or not, is no excuse to break the Community Guidelines by using images without credit. Sprites in the sprite library exist to help Scratchers get started with their projects, without worrying about how to draw good-looking sprites.

Or… just add a single flag template, which Scratchers can use to build existing flags out of a single one if they want to.

This isn't really a great argument; it's not directly related to the suggestion at hand. I could counter and claim that an exponent reporter is a waste of time compared to the potential of adding dark mode. Then someone could counter that with a different suggestion. Rather than compare two unrelated suggestions, let's think about ways to improve the proposed suggestion at hand.
