WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS

I don't get it. I would share a project, and a few months later I would check up on it, and when I press play, the audio is just GONE. And when I go inside the “sounds” I just see a thin, continuous line in replace of the audio. It's like the audio is literally just cut out.

Is this a copyright issue or something?? I don't get that, because I'm pretty sure most if not all the music I use is Copyright Free (I use NCS a lot. No Copyright Sounds) But STILL the audio gets cut out. If i go back right now and look at a buncha my old animations I can guarantee a BUNCH of them just DON'T have audio anymore.
This IS NOT only my problem either. Take a look at this project (NOT mine). It used to have a song called “The Search” by NF, but now, the audio is just GONE https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/673001588/

Getting audio for my most recent animation was such a PAIN cause Scratch kept deleting the audio is was using WHILE i was still making the project. Every time I uploaded the audio from my computer, It would work for a few minutes, but then it would just disappear when I pressed play. I did this MULTIPLE times, but in the end I just gave up and chose a new song (which ISN'T being cut out for some reason. What's the difference between the new song and the old one??)) Sometimes when I try to search up songs on Scratch to bookmark, the songs are just gone, and instead it's replaced by a continuous thin line that lasts “0..00” seconds. The songs used to be there but now they aren't and idk where they went.

And it's not like ALL my old projects' audios have been cut out. It has only happened to some projects and not all, which is really confusing, cause what's wrong in THOSE animations that the other ones don't have?

People are watching some of my animations and are saying things like “I don't hear anything” when I KNOW I put a song in the animation when I was making it. Furthermore, it's really annoying, cause most of not all of my animations are synced with the music I chose, and when the audio gets cut off it just seems…incomplete
In one animation, ONE of the songs was deleted and the other one WASN'T. Like what?? So when i realized that I added the second song BACK. And it works now. But why did it cut off in the first place??
Audio disappearing examples: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/721203169/ https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/527309251/ https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/672842856/ https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/552971610/

OME MORE THING: for some reason, it isn't the SOUND EFFECTS that are being cut out, it's the songs. And even when I cut a song in half or quarter cause i dont want the whole thing (I still save the whole song inside the project too), the part I CUT gets deleted, while the WHOLE ORIGINAL SONG isn't deleted. Is it just random?
Can anyone tell me what on earth's going on??

I saw that problem with an animation I think, maybe it forces you to give credit? If you did it’s probably a glitch, I’ll try to look around at the projects you put. I would think if it’s ST they would not remove NCS music, So in my opinion it’s likely a glitch.

It's not a glitch with credit.

It is not intentional, it's just that if a sound fails to load for whatever reason (maybe server issues or a bad connection), it becomes blank.
The blank “error” sound will not actually be saved into the project (unless you edit it in the sound editor).

I have the same issue when going back into projects, and it isn't for copyright reasons. It just happens for no reason and idk why. This has happened to me plenty of times when making an AYS.

then why would older projects who have had the working audio for a while just consistently not work? this issue is really interesting, this never has happened to me before 2024

Once again, probably just server issues.

but it can't be server issues if people are only experiencing this in 2024? My story is that I made an OC project with two songs. the longer one got deleted. I even cut it in half and separated it but it got deleted. Both songs were downloaded from the same website too and artist. This makes me think that there is a glitch with Scratch's audio size. It “saves” the song, but the glitch causes it to delete itself bc the audio is too long. That is my theory but someone tell me if this happens with sound effects or smth. The audio that worked for me was 138.66 and the broken audio is 175.28. It's abt 5-6 MB though so it “should” be in Scratch's limit, but that's why I have my theory that I already stated.

1. That doesn't mean it cannot be the case, server issues can start happening later.
2. It also occurred in 2023.
Though, every time I have seen this bug, it only seems to happen on one side (as in, others cannot see the bug).

I have a development and it supports my theory! B) Since I thought the file size was the glitch, I used a file compressor for my longer audio and then I uploaded it into Scratch. I saved the project and reloaded the tab. The audio was full and it played when I pressed the green flag so… I believe my theory was correct my dearest Watson xD. I wonder why that happens though. I mean, at least now with the test, others can learn from my experience and now they can fix their stuff which is really good for everyone in the long run

it only happens over 5MB which is why compressing it worked.

WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS

Yeah I have been having the same problem with my wave survival game I'm working on, it's starting to annoy the Cra(backwards q) out of me- Like EVERY time I load in the project, all of the music is gone EXCEPT the world 2 boss theme, and just now the world 1 Boss theme. I don't think it's length because the world 2 boss theme is 25.12 and the world 1 boss theme is 93.32 and it's been getting deleted a lot, and all of a sudden today, now it does work??? I didn't even fricking edit it and it works out of nowhere? I'm starting to think maybe it might be with the stage? I'll have to do some experimenting, but that's my theory. But glad to know that im not the only one getting beat up by this (Presumable) glitch.

EDIT: Nope. Not the stage.

Same. I keep losing two songs, but I tried compressing the file, but it still wouldn't want to save the audio, my project is completely broken without the audio. Is there any other ways that you guys can think of?

WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS

Hello, I have a problem that if I upload an audio saying that it worked but it doesn't appear.
Even though there is no solution for this, I recommend you get another smartphone or computer with your audio that you want and record, since Scratch has an audio recording function some contraindications when recording audio:
1. AVOID NOISY PLACES (Example: TV on, washing machine and etc)
2. IF THE DAY IS VERY WINDY, AVOID RECORDING IN THE BACKYARD.
3. FIND QUIET PLACES (Example: Bedroom, car and etc)
4. IF THERE IS STILL NOISE, CLOSE THE DOOR OF THE ROOM YOU WANT TO RECORD THE SOUND TO AVOID RUÍDS
Please reply if you have the same problem and if this helps you, thanks.

WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS

Solution:
1. Don’t save the project and reload it until the sounds are there.
2. Save your project to your computer.
3. Use XConvert to compress some sounds.
4. Try the longest sounds first, then the smaller ones.
5. Do this until your project size is less than 5MB.
6. Load the project from the computer to the online project.
