also, they're easy to understand and play. you don't have to read a big wall of instructions or play a tutorial to get to the game.

because most of scratch are kids and kids like “simple” and “fun” games and these projects “fit” these terms i think

Based on your definition of “generic,” any platformer can be generic, and vice versa.
ST likes games that are fun for everyone

Kid like simple platformer with cube and spike.

I don’t really count these games as fun, anyway. The levels are literally so easy its basically just and walking simulator but as a platformer. No difficulty curve and nothing special.
