Why can't I download sounds with more than 2000 megabytes?

Scratch does not like to download large image or sound files. You can break those files us into smaller chunks to import them.

My problem is I can't edit sounds to do that.

Scratch has a 50mb limit for total project size. So if you broke up your file it would still be rejected as the chunks added up still exceed the max size. Try using .mp3s as they have better compression. (How long is your audio anyway?)

about 5-10 seconds each, with a TON of editing that I did on my 3DS. And by that, I mean I distorted it in a GB-killing way. By the way, I always use MP3s otherwise.

A couple of seconds of audio should never be more than a few megabytes, even at highest quality. Can I see your files?

.mp3 files are converted to .wav files when they're imported. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't do anything except worsen the audio quality.
