They were updating the filter, since all the old filter did was censor a few words with *s.

The Scratch Team added the mainsite filter to the forums (though the old filter seems to still be there), and the mobile forums were removed.

Because it was useless

not only did they update forums, they now make it so new scratchers can't post on forums (i have to use this old account for forums )

The infamous “automod” phrase mutes you on the main site as well, so I assume that the filter for stuff on the main website has been added to the forums. Also the forums are slower for me, but that might be a bug and not related to the new update.

EDIT: Maybe assets should be unblocked on the forums, as a certain browser addition for Scratch uses it for it's image hosting feature. No, I can't use cubeupload as I've been locked out of my account

Yea I honestly liked it, though there's no official response from the Scratch Team that I've seen about this.
