Some constructive criticism of what could be changed with the current mock-up, as seen in the OP:

What happened to the top footer?! It should definitely be kept, I don't see a reason to remove it IMO.
The icons at the top look pretty weird compared to the theming of everything else. Also, make them more clear on what they're supposed to redirect to.

What's up with the SDS studios being called ScratchJams? I'm not saying you should revert the name change, but I'm not sure if it looks good or not…
The colors for the other UI elements (like the news and SJ Submissions) are pretty fine, although some of them don't mix well with the white gradient. If a plain white background is ever implemented into the mockup, maybe give them some sort of drop shadow?
There's all the stuff at the bottom of the page you forgot about.

Even though there's all these flaws, that doesn't mean I hate this mock-up. It looks fine, but it would need some refinements to look more nice. If I had the choice between the current look of the website and this one, I would choose the former, for now at least.

1. Revert ScratchJam back to SDS.
2. 3.0 users feel like this is a Scratch version they've never seen. Just bring back the navbar and yes, stay with the purple navbar.
3. Why dark completely??? Just have an option to switch from light to dark in Account Settings.
4. At least show all the featured projects by default. This can be changed in Account Settings.
