Username and Nickname
- My username is @yannasunset, though you can call me Yanna!
About Me
- Hello, all, and welcome to my application for the wonderful Toadflax!
I'm @yannasunset, otherwise known as Yanna, otherwise known as the resident dog nerd of my family and writer-who-has-too-many-ideas-but-no-motivation-to-use-them. While sharing my exact age on Scratch is neither comfortable nor safe for me, you may know that I am a minor in the years of high school, a dedicated veteran writer, and a dog nerd of the highest degree. I have a Shetland Sheepdog puppy named Niko, whose antics, affection, and intelligence never cease to astound both me and my family members day after day. I've been on Scratch for four years, though only a portion of that time has been spent roleplaying–I only discovered this vibrant community mid-2023, and even after all that, it took me a while to muster the courage to sign up for any roleplays. Some of my interests include writing and reading in the fantasy genre, veterinary medicine, dog behavior, Warriors, and (you guessed it) roleplaying. I can't tell you just how much I enjoy the process: creating a character that intrigues you and that you are invested in, then drawing on both your plotting and writing skills to shape that character's life into something meaningful and impactful. All in all I think I'm a generally nice person; I try to be easy to get along with, though we all have our flaws, even in the way we interact with others.

Activity Levels
- I am on Scratch nearly every day and I have time to respond to many of my messages, if not all of them. I try to be as punctual as I can with roleplay responses, unless lack of motivation strikes. Overall, I don't disappear for long periods of time, and whenever I do take a hiatus, it is usually due to some family or school event.
ˋ°•*⁀➷
Longevity
- I try to give my characters meaningful lives, and I think it would be a waste of effort and personality to kill off a character before they're ready to go. I tend to get attached to my characters in general, and I'd hate to see one of them go. For example, I've had Midnightmystery since he was 21 moons, and now he's 42 (how quickly time flies, sobbing). If I was chosen as her roleplayer, I would attempt to keep Toadflax in existence for at least 52 moons, or approximately one year. With what I know of the future, I think this goal would be attainable.

Roleplaying and Writing Experience
- Contrary to some of the other people joining this litter, I haven't been roleplaying for that long–I signed up with my first ever character, a TFCRP ShadowClan cat named Midnightmystery, in August 2023. I gave him a bland introverted personality, cringe-worthy roleplay responses, and just a lousy backstory in general–but I learned, and this character opened my eyes to a whole different community, allowing me to explore and make positive connections. Midnight grew alongside me, and soon I became well-versed in the intricacies of roleplaying, though like everyone, I'm still improving and finding flaws that I must work on. He is still alive today, and I'm pleased to say he's doing well: on top of beginning a family, mentoring an apprentice, and partaking in some ShadowClan plot, I'm proud of what he's done up till now. Since then I've joined some other roleplays, such as A Perfect Way and The Wild Clans.
- I've been writing for as long as I can remember–approximately since first or second grade. I've improved greatly, and I'd say I'm pretty good at it by now, though as stated in the previous paragraph, I'm always improving. My style gravitates toward a descriptive one that takes into account both the character's emotions and the environment, sprinkled in with a little sarcasm. Occasionally I become long-winded and go past three or even four comments, though I usually stick to two or three.

Reasons for Applying
- I have multiple reasons for applying this litter! ETSRP is a remarkably fascinating concept with its roots in Warriors, and while it is still in development, I would love to take part in its fledgling community. Toadflax, being part of the first litter, caught my eye immediately. It is not just because of her design, because indeed, there are many litters out there with beautiful designs: She has much potential to be discovered, and her personality is one that has been floating around in my head for a while, making it easier for me to envision what she could be. Her peddler role has much to be explored, and overall there are many plots to be delved into considering her situation. I think I'll stop rambling about this for now, haha, and leave the focus of this application to be the more creative aspects, so let us move on!

Why I Should Have the Kit
- For this, I have no direct answer. I would like to clarify that I am in no way being narcissistic or overly cocky by answering this directly, since it's such an open-ended question with many possible interpretations. Everyone has their own specialty, and I'm sure that everyone partaking in this litter would be an amazing candidate for the kit. If I were to answer it in all honesty, however, I would say it is because of my writing experience, and my determination to give the kit a meaningful life. I don't want to kill off Toadflax early if I were to receive her, and while I cannot guarantee I will be roleplaying with her every day, I'll do my best to shape connections and plot with her, both with her inner self and with other cats. I would try to build her family line when she grows older, and I would love to see her reach elder age–considering the personality I am giving her, she would be quite a challenge for other cats in her elder days, haha.

Detailed Personality
- Among the multitudinous personalities that make up our world, there comes a time that one must meet one who defies the ordinary, whose attitude and disposition invites little argument, whose quick wit and even quicker tongue both charm and aggravate friends and rivals alike. Toadflax personifies the essence of the unusual, reveling in that which does not conform to social standards, and delving ever deeper into the mysteries of the world with such a carefree cheeriness that it is impossible not to find her quick smile infectious. While she does indeed have her flaws, Flax's path is one steeped in adventure, laughter, and, more often than not, obstacles that challenge her eccentric logic.
Cheerful—The sun shines forevermore on the vast planes of Toadflax's imagination, infusing her daily life and endeavors with gold-soaked felicity. This is a world in which the night never comes, in which the sun bathes hilltops and forests and wide-open oceans with its radiant blades of light, in which hardly a day comes that the sun is veiled by clouds. And at the epicenter of this breathtaking panorama is a certain she-kit whose carefree attitude defies all expectations, for hardly can one expect that she is to be tied down by the glumness that so often infects the world; ho no. A paradox, one might describe her, one who never fails to see the rainbow hidden amidst the darkened clouds, one whose sense of optimism is contagious, one who lights up the world surrounding her with the merriness that appears to illuminate her entire countenance till she is no longer a mere peddler but a queen of her own fantastical landscape. Flax is rarely glum nor moody; dancing would be the right word to express her vivacious demeanor, dancing through the rain-swept hills and storm-plagued seas. Her attitude toward excessive optimism is well-known–indeed, her cheeriness rarely extends to the point of frivolity or indignity. She holds an unwavering desire to brighten the darkest chambers, but not to the point that those who inhabit the caliginous shadows lose sight of what lies before them. Often, Toadflax finds herself cracking jokes at the most inopportune moments, in an attempt to lighten the mood, for heavy atmospheres immensely tire and bore her, as do places that do not seem to match her overall goal or desire. She values her ability to see the brighter side of any situation extremely highly, and keeps hold of the fact that while the darkest night might permeate her world, there must always be a dawn. Overall, her cheerful attitude allows her to gain the trust of those who see, not the light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel itself; she certainly has the ability to make impressions on anyone she happens to come across, merely by allowing others to see the true extent of her vivacious character.
Observant—Toadflax possesses a remarkable mental acuity and keenness, which allows her to extend the reach of her senses far beyond simply looking to comprehending and pondering that which she has observed. Indeed, perhaps “observant” is not the right word to describe Flax's incredible ability for detecting the slightest discrepancies and shifts of tone, the smallest change in demeanor or shuffling of paws. There is a difference between quietly observing and actively participating in that which she spots, which Flax certainly does, now that you think about it. The partition that exists between a ruler and a dictator is not how much they perceive–for perception is a rather easy task, much too easy for the likes of Toadflax–but how much they ignore. Flax is often the very first to catch hold of a rumor or tragedy, the first to realize when change is on the wind. Every new place she enters, every new cat she encounters, is extensively scrutinized and fitted into one of many categories. Nearly subconsciously, she examines her surroundings and notes little details, far beyond what any ordinary cat would be capable of doing. Her keen eyes pick up the slightest discrepancies and give her a chance to truly make sense of the world around her. What is truly extraordinary about this particular talent, however, lies in the fact that she does not openly seek changes and shifts in demeanor or emotion; rather, what comes as a chore to other cats is natural to her, a part of her being just as much as others' traits are of theirs. Toadflax subconsciously makes sense of all else, and does not selectively sift through the details: what she sees is what she sees, and she would not tamper with whatever she believes she saw the previous day in order to receive a vision of what she would like to think. Though there might be nothing that allows her surefire certainty, she may always trust in her keen judgment and perceptiveness, as when it comes to her astuteness, she is nearly unmatched.
Clever—Toadflax is a remarkably clever individual, one whose mind is dedicated to the unraveling of the mysterious and the absurd. Her wit is unrivaled, sharp like a black-feathered crow, and sharper still than many of the more sarcastic members of the population. She revels in puzzles and riddles and never fails to stimulate both her mind and others' through games of the mind and of the subconscious. Her logic differs from that of others, and she sees things in a rather philosophical light; in a way, she delves the deepest that she can into the mysteries of the world while retaining an eccentric view of things that defy what others may previously believe. Riddles are of little difficulty to her, she who can unravel the tautest of ropes, shatter the most brilliant of arguments. When it comes to learning new lessons, Flax is, once again, dominant in this particular field, for in the rare occasion that she is at a loss for words or wit, she is quick to discover the best way to proceed and is quicker to start anew. Applying new and innovative ideas is what sets the clever apart from the dim, and rest assured Flax stands on the side of those whose intelligence is surest; she simply does not think like everyone else, taking all else apart and figuring out how the world works, and piecing everything back together with a certainty that belies all outward impressions. Rather than relying on brute strength and force of will–although rest assured she is not devoid of the latter–she utilizes a combination of a charismatic approach and a practical one in order to gain and achieve her goals. She is quick to formulate arguments, quick to strike back against an oppressor, and most of all, quick to devise both a logical and effective plan that attempts to satisfy both sides.
Gregarious—Toadflax is a dexterous manipulator of the many threads of social interaction, a creature who instinctively fits into environments that require the use of her natural amicability. Her expertise ranges from the hustle and bustle of a large gathering crowd to deep, insightful conversations that stimulate both her mind and that of the cat with enough luck to earn an encounter with such a character as herself. While she holds no disdain toward solitude and self-reflection, it is hard to admit that Flax's overall attitude toward the many complexities that span the broad topic of social interaction is, to be frank, above the ordinary. A masterful and accomplished conversationalist, there are few who may rival Toadflax's innate ability to engage and converse with others with brazen confidence and smooth, unperturbed wit. She is a gregarious character that few may even come close to replicating, one who can be relied on to provide an interesting and yet insightful topic of conversation, and a cat who, overall, craves the excitement and thrill of interacting with others. Fruitful and meaningful connections are threads that are easily pulled and spun by the eccentric peddler herself, who rarely finds herself insecure or anxious in environments that are suitable for such a feline as she, for why would she feel anxiety when the world is wonderful and she receives a change to shape long-lasting friendships? When the day turns to dusk and the shadows lengthen, those who choose to isolate themselves will be on their own, but those who choose camaraderie over solitude will forever be rewarded, in this case with the friendships and the bonds that they forged while the sun was high. Toadflax is the great conductor of such bonds, effortlessly weaving a web of friendships that spans rules, boundaries, and kingdoms. She is gregarious and amiable and easy to get along with once you surpass her rather acerbic outer layer, and an even truer friend once you earn your trust, unlikely though that might seem from her demeanor upon first interactions.
Hardworking—Laziness and idleness hold no appeal in the eyes of Toadflax, a feline who believes in the importance of effort and hard work in order to achieve that which she longs for the most. From a distance she might appear as a desert mirage might, shimmering and yet capricious, unable to be relied on to carry through tasks. Delve beneath the misleading outer layer, however, and submerge yourself into the glistening crystalline waters of Flax's personality, and you unravel more and more of the simple fact that she is a hardworking, effortful feline whose devotion to duty is nearly unmatched. Her dedication is not easily earned, much less her ability to immerse herself in what needs to be done, but once her allegiance is yours, there is nothing that she may do to satisfy your wishes. One must note, however, that while she tries to achieve what is asked from her, she does not blindly follow orders, for doing so would be embracing a kind of tyranny … exactly the kind of behavior Flax wishes not to display. Instead, she does what she believes is right, diving deeper and deeper till she has completely finished the task at hand. Toadflax has little room in her life for a job haphazardly done, and in the rare situation that she does not seem to have exerted her best efforts, it is most likely a game, a little dance that she is performing in order to grab your attention or challenge your wit. Even when she has little to do, Toadflax is constantly in motion, participating in little activities such as collecting the strange and unusual, observing the flight paths of birds, watching the stars, or perhaps even rambling about the notion of feral rabbits to anyone who would listen. Challenging both herself and others to mind games and puzzles of wit are just a few of the other activities that she partakes in to satisfy her need for a sense of purpose. She simply cannot stand not having a job to do, and once she is bored, there is little she will not do to regain the spice and excitement in her life.
Adaptable—Linked to her ability to cheerfully stride her way through all life's problems, Toadflax presents herself as a flamboyant feline who does not hesitate to return to her paws after a hard fall. Pessimism is hardly a habit of hers, and neither is gloominess, though it may be arguable that one stems from the other. Either way, Toadflax is not one to easily be dissuaded; her resilience in the face of disaster and her unwavering determination before adversity is certainly admirable in both a work setting and otherwise. She does not attempt to shield herself from the brutality of the world–the world is dangerous place, is it not?–and yet she makes no attempt to stop the coursing river of fate, either, allowing the silvery waves to take her wherever they see fit. Rather than struggling against the whims of fate or cowering and allowing herself to drift to the bottom, Flax floats atop the river, moving with a buoyancy that extends far beyond her physical strength or, indeed, her mental acuity. Adaptability is one of her defining traits, and it is one that prevents pessimism where it is not needed; for how would she experience the wonders of the forest when she concentrates on the shadows instead of the trees? Flax is much tougher than she appears to be, as many often are: the gravest of insults may fly from a rival's mouth, and yet draw not much more than a slow, relaxed blink from her youthful countenance. She merely finds little appeal in shooting insults back and forth for a long period, when her time could have been spent pursuing her own endeavors rather than participating in such petty rivalries.
Witty—Sharp, dry humor is one of the many traits that sets Toadflax apart from others. Indeed, it is her persistent wit that makes her a recognizable figure among family and friends, a beacon or a lighthouse so to say, making her a magnetic apparition at gatherings. She spins the whims of words with an incredible eye for the intricacies of speech and communication, and her mannerisms when it comes to conversations often are sprinkled with a generous amount of humor. Rare is the moment when she speaks in an ordinary manner. Her wit extends beyond that of others, those felines whose words are laced with flippancy and yet never reaching deeper than the surface level, and delves straight to the heart of emotion and demeanor, striking directly at the core in a subtle and yet distinct way. Her humor is not that of the airheaded court jester; nay, she is eloquent with her speech and articulate in the way she threads her words together. Her vivacious approach to life, combined with her gravitation toward sarcasm, irritates and charms in equal amounts. One often catches her dropping comments and remarks that stray from the ordinary, her sentences laced with blunt observations, the glint in her eye hinting at the odd intelligence that comes with her gifted and keen mind. Her disliked rivals may feel the heat of her tongue and the strength of her sarcasm, for her wit is a double-edged sword, dangerous in the hands of those who would misuse it. More often than not she finds herself overstepping boundaries and making blunt observations where it is not necessary, or else dropping little tidbits of wisdom that never seem to reach the comprehension of those whom she converses with. She manipulates the threads of interaction most masterfully, but tact is not one of her key priorities, and neither is empathy.
Inquisitive—A relentless questioner of her surroundings, Toadflax is a seeker of the strange and of the extreme, of the many discoveries that lie waiting in the bowels of our world. She views her surroundings through a scholar's lens, wandering the land on which she walks in an attempt to unravel life's greatest mysteries. Most everything catches her inquisitive gaze, be it the fluttering of butterfly wings as it lands on a gently tilting rose, or the patterns of the stars as they shift across an autumnal sky, or the creak of branches as the wind blows through the forest. Flax sees wonder in both the smallest and the largest aspects of the world, perpetually seeking the answers to whatever her questions may be. One of her philosophies is to never stop asking questions about the world around her, for once she does, that would be the end of her journey to grow and expand her knowledge. Indeed, her search for the truth is everlasting, one that will not falter nor stop even in the sip of old age. From the dawning of kithood to the bite of adolescence to her elder years, Flax will continuously ponder and wonder with an increasing intensity that both stuns and amazes those around her. One can often find her staring at the smallest and most nondescript of things. In her eyes, no rule is too important to be broken; no belief too sacred to be questioned. She asks question after question rapidly, and in her eyes one can see the insatiable desire that spurs many of her endeavors: to find the truth and to spread it to others, regardless of whether or not they listen. Every moment, in her presence, is an opportunity to expand the boundaries of her prior knowledge and to grow in the sphere of her intelligence, understanding, and wisdom. She encourages others to seek out the truth in their endeavors as well, becoming a driving force for others to rely on whenever a question prods at them. The phrase “curiosity killed the cat”, however, applies here, and often Toadflax finds herself sticking her nose into situations that just might bite back, inquisitiveness tipping into downright nosiness. Many do not appreciate Flax's tendency to question just about everything about the way they go about life, preferring instead a friend who lingers on every word silently and obsequiously.
Unconventional—A field of flowers captivates your gaze. Each blossom, each petal, is imbued with mystery and allure, and the sway of the flowers as the wind catches on the stems entrances you, drawing you further into the field's depths. Near the epicenter, however, you glimpse something much different from the fragrant blossoms that surround you: a plump brown mushroom, resplendent in its eccentricity. A living testimony to diversity and oddity in a world where many attempt to conform to social standards, Toadflax can often find herself separating herself from others in nondescript and yet unusual ways. She rarely fits in alongside her peers, merely for her unusually tinted humor and wit, but also because of the face that she purposefully places herself apart, building herself a woven throne far from the hustle and bustle of the ordinary life. What is generally done or believed by the populace is what is ordinary, uncreative, just like the many flowers that hold within them a common allure and yet never differ in their ideals and systems. Flax revels in the ability to express herself freely without fearing judgment or ill perception. She paints her world with bold strokes and vibrant shades, and the choices she makes further separates her from the ordinary, allowing her freedom of originality and audacity. Those in her presence never cease to become amazed at her unusual beliefs and morals, as well as the many discoveries she makes while dancing on the veil between madness and monotony. Occasionally, however, her originality causes others to see her in a negative light, thinking of her as one who defies all rules and expectations and who could not care less about others' wellbeing. She is a paradox, one who walks between the candle and the dark, thrives in the most thrilling of environments, and often is much more than some can handle, despite her best intentions.
Enigmatic—An enigmatic feline is she; her words are wrapped in the ambiguous veil of mists, and she quite often slips into philosophical phrases that give others a glimpse of the depths to which her musings delve. Her true intentions are hardly malevolent nor belligerent, unless she happens to be interacting with one whom she dislikes, and yet few ever discover her actual motivations or interests, for she is a mystery unto herself. Exempting her close family and kin, whom she has known and who have known her, many fail to uncover her true personality, which she hides beneath flashing smiles and riddling talk. Seldom is she direct or forthright with a discussion, and any conversation with her is liable to go up, down, sideways, and diagonal, for one can never predict what she might do or say next. When it comes to concealing her intentions behind a benevolent face, Toadflax is the master of such intricacies, for she does it often, even to the point of hiding emotions and thoughts from her own loved ones, her own family. Even when she attempts to make her intentions known, it often comes in a way that is difficult for others to understand, especially those who have little experience in the dealings of Toadflax; it appears that she was made this way, to become an enigma for both her acquaintances and well-known friends alike, though she might try to make herself appear otherwise–not that she would attempt such a thing. As it is, few ever get to know Toadflax truly and completely, so deeply does she curl inward with her mysteries and her secrets. She does so both involuntarily and willingly–in the end, it depends on her to reveal as much as she likes about herself, not what others need to know, as is well-known among her groups and circles. An openly gregarious character who craves social interaction and yet does not know how to make herself clear and known is one of the many phrases or terms that may be used to describe this ever-changing, capricious feline.
Emphatic—Though Toadflax may as well be seen as a cheerful, reckless, air-headed feline who wants nothing more than to fulfill her flights of fancy, her ebullient exterior hides something else entirely: a heart that beats with passion and fortitudinous strength. For while, on the outside, she appears soft and gullible, susceptible to the whims of others, once one sinks their teeth into their flesh, one discovers the price of doing so, the storm-driven winds that whirl within, and the mental strength that so sets her apart from others. Her rather average build and frame packs vivacious energy and enthusiasm. When Toadflax speaks, others are liable to listen, for the forcefulness that comes with her gifted tongue and her remarkably clever mind causes most everyone to lift their heads and listen. Nay, Flax has few leader skills, if not none; and yet others tend to listen to her advice, for the sake of avoiding the jibes and jeers that might possibly follow her rejection. While her intentions are not always clear, once she decides to communicate a demand or an order, she does so with true conviction: deadly force lies hidden behind her eccentric phrases and sentences, and like a desert mirage, her intentions shift as you gaze closer. When the illusion fails, all that strikes you in the end is the extraordinary delusions that it had you believe, and the crushing guilt that resides within you for thinking what the mirage fooled you into thinking. Her ability to place emphasis behind what she truly wishes for and to speak with true certainty and conviction, unlike what some are capable of doing, might as well impact both herself and others in a positive way; and yet she often finds herself overstepping her boundaries, causing distress where it is unnecessary–becoming an entity of chaos rather than organization and peace. She does not take into consideration others' opinions and emotions, and indeed harbors little empathy save for those who cannot defend themselves.
Philosophical—The inner workings of the world are things that deeply fascinate and intrigue the young Toadflax. While she holds little disdain for little, everyday creatures such as the butterflies that flit over the fields or the birds that swoop across the morning sky, she finds that questions of great magnitude, concerning morals or philosophical debates, are her preferred topics of conversation. She questions the most unlikely things, and musings that seem insignificant at first glance become clever and insightful, an expansion of one's knowledge and understanding, as Toadflax explains it, although occasionally she muddles things much more than she had originally intended. The concerns of starlings are raised in importance to the concerns of kings in the peddler's star-touched eyes. Fundamental knowledge, be it of nature, of emotion, of the intricacies of interaction, or of the woven web of dreams that exists beneath the ordinary world, holds great esteem in Toadflax's gaze, and she treasures what she knows with an incandescent passion. She sees things from two points of view: that of the eyesight and of the senses, which is, in her opinion, a blinkered view; and that of the mind and heart, with which she knows no bounds. Existence, for many, is restricted to the here and the now, and many do not seek to uncover the veiled mysteries of the world that lie just out of grasp. Toadflax views herself as a crusader on the greatest voyage ever undertaken by any feline to walk the earth: the voyage to discover the truth of the world, not just the truth about the questions many ponder and yet never find the answers to, but the truth to all creatures' eternal longing and hunger. Far too often she loses herself in her musings and debates, becoming an enigma unto herself, and withdrawing deeply within the ashes of her search, isolating herself from others in the process. An ebullient feline she is, and yet her talent for philosophy might be her undoing, if it causes unneeded strain and doubt amongst her peers and family.
Capricious—The dearest ones to us are often the most alien, the least understood. While fairly transparent when it comes to her true thoughts and emotions, for she rarely fails to place emphasis in places that she feels necessary, when one delves deeper into her ordinary habits, they find within her a seething mass of concentrated energy, a mind that chugs along at an otherworldly speed, and a desire to make decisions free of civilization's standards that is, mystifyingly … erratic. A free spirit who revels in nothing less than creativity and freedom of self-expression, Toadflax rarely does what others expect her to do, instead ruthlessly defying society's standards and becoming a formidably independent figure in her own right. She is a capricious soul, rarely content for settling down and doing nothing more than staring off into the distance devoid of any consciousness or thought. Indeed, though she may appear to be drifting off, it is often due to her philosophical ponderings or whimsical fantasies, not because of an excess of boredom. Toadflax's unpredictable nature, an offshoot of her enigmatic tendencies, causes her to make preemptive and rash decisions regardless of what others believe or think, acting on her own whims and refusing to conform to what others expect of her. Her focus flits from one topic to another as quickly as a butterfly in a field of flowers, if butterflies happened to be equipped with a razor-sharp tongue; her temper is volatile, and one never knows what might have been done to ignite a sudden burst of strength and force. Toadflax dislikes being “tied down”, so to say, by outward connections and bonds of fealty, preferring to commit herself to her unstable bursts of spontaneity to her musings that transcend the concerns of the ordinary. She acts with arbitrary volatility; her intentions, while appearing to be stated clearly, are constantly uncertain. It could be that she is aiding in the search due to genuine compassion … or perhaps she was merely bored and wandering about in search of something to do. Perhaps she shows true concern toward a companion's troubles, or perhaps she is in a merciful mood that particular day and has been thoroughly irritated by said accomplice's griping. It is never clear with her, and even less so when it comes to a situation where life and death are involved: an inconsistent whirl of motion and energy, Toadflax often possesses a dual nature, the likes of which few can comprehend. It is her attention to the unordinary, her eye for that which stems from expectations, and her ability to shock even those whom she is close with that makes her a force in her own right and yet puzzlingly … inhuman.
Acerbic—Sensitivity, compassion, an unwavering attention to the feelings and opinions of others … all these many cats possess, and yet few shreds of these core emotions drift aimlessly through the blazing valleys and deserts that make up the foundation of Toadflax's being. Bitter sarcasm rolls off each syllable, enunciated with utmost care and yet superior force, as if consistently striving against others. A ruthless glint appears in her eyes upon the promise of an argument, only accentuated by her odd and erratic mannerisms of speech. A creature spurred by her own desires and morals, her emotions can shift on a whim, and her tongue is both her greatest strength and most terrible weakness. Her tendency to place unnecessary force behind her words combined with her ability to conjure witty rejoinders and retorts do not mesh well with those of the sensitive type. To Toadflax, conversations must be open-ended and insightful, often to the extreme; for why must she utter honey-coated words, lies spun with sugar and laced with delicate webbing, in order to appease others? Why should she care in the slightest about what others think of her or, more so, others' emotions? To these questions, Toadflax cannot find suitable answers, and therefore she answers without qualms or compassion, bluntly stating all that she observes about her fellow feline. Detrimental to positive relationships and destructive toward negative ones, the acerbic quality of her voice affects all, even those whom she is familiar with. She possesses the unwavering ability to shatter the spirits of whosoever happens to stand before her, acting with such contempt upon noticing a discrepancy or flaw that she has the capacity to ignite lividity and stir outrage wherever she heads. Dangerous words are flung from Toadflax's tongue with the steadiness of a cascading waterfall; hail batters the earth from the sky and yet she does not bat an eye, and neither does she care whether or not others are harmed in the process. Roleplay Examples
- SRP Example 1 | 5 moons
Westward did the sun now trace its course, over the verdant hills and mountains of the two kingdoms. The sun, a blazing orb that steadily dimmed as did the world around it, graced the sky with the fiery hues of dusk, a dichotomy of effulgent orange, gold, and red with the softer lavender and gray tones of twilight. Soon afterward, the moon showed its clement, silver face, heralding in the caliginous shade from the east that would cloak all lands alike till the breaking of dawn. Stars in brilliant swathes adorned the skies with diamond curtains, painted the firmament with their glimmering glow; for the keen of eye, shapes could be spotted within the stars' infinite depths, shapes that, for some, hinted at the changing of seasons and the whims of fate. The shadows lengthened over Paventein, turning the vibrant leaves to dim, monotonous shades, although the chittering and chattering of wildlife could be heard in the thickened foliage. Shards of light penetrated the thick canopy here and there, patches of moonshine that danced and swayed as the boughs of the overhead trees rocked and creaked in the wind.
Seated in one such patch of gentle light was a she-kit, a dark-furred feline whose lime-and-amber eyes glinted strangely in the coming eventide. A single forelimb protruded forward and gripped the ground with kit-like claws; the other was nothing more than a stump, although this deformity did not seem to affect her in the slightest. Toadflax was her name; Toadflax was what she was called, either way–names were a strange construct, designed to assign labels even to those who felt not the need for them. Toadflax was her name and she belonged to neither kingdom, she and her littermates. She belonged to no one, indeed.
Before her swayed the stem of a flower whose petals had long since drifted toward the forest floor. There they lay, white and stark against the backdrop of the earthen soil, close to withering away or being sent to distant lands on the changing winds. The stem bobbed helplessly in the breeze. Flax knew not why the petals had fallen–had it been the result of some disturbance from a larger creature, or perhaps had it been affected by the changing of seasons? She did not know, and for that very reason she stared at it now, allowing her thoughtful dual gaze to travel the length of the fuzzy appendage. Quicker than a blue squirrel in retreat, possibilities flitted through her head, filling her contemplation with delightful uncertainty and unpredictability. Even she did not know her true intention; she did not know what she might do with this plant, which had been stripped of its beauty and allowed to wither beneath the ephemeral moonlight. Evanescent–all life was evanescent. Every moment that ticked was a moment when a life faded from existence. Every day, creatures great and small entered the void, the abyss. A bleak future lay ahead of everyone else. And yet what was truly extraordinary was how though she could imagine a thousand ways to die, that did not extinguish her desire to live, her desire to experience the momentary joys of this world. So thought the musing kit as she sat, still as a stone, gazing at the plant.
At last, an idea came into her mind with a sound like bells, and in an instant, she knew what should be done.
She picked herself onto her paws and turned her head, her movements permeated with conviction and certainty. A single claw traced forward toward the bent plant stem, and with a deft flick, she severed the stem from its base and roots. She pulled the flower stem closer to her and broke it in half, slicing it with the tip of one claw once again. With the two halves separate, she chose several of the fallen petals and grouped them closer to her.
She worked in an entranced reverie, not stopping to contemplate or even to think briefly of her actions. Guided by some instinctual impulse, she twisted and turned the stems and petals around one another, her paws moving with dexterity that matched not her age. Eccentric, some would call her; odd and strange, others would; but one thing remained in common with all of Toadflax's labels: all others described her as one apart from the ordinary. Indeed, would any ordinary kit take it upon herself to ensure that the legacy of a fallen plant remained carried on for at least a week to come? Would any ordinary kit ponder such a deep and philosophical question, one that aimed at one of the many fundamental lessons that shaped the world?
At last she completed her work, resplendent in the patch of moonlight she lingered beneath, and a soft sound of satisfaction emanated from the depths of her throat, a low hum that reshaped the contour of her face into something similar to a smile. The two halves of the stem had been braided together into a thin tendril, tightly enough that the thread would not unravel at any given moment. Laced between these two stems were the remnants of the fallen petals, white as freshly fallen spring snow, for they had relinquished their grip on the flower all too recently. Seen from a distance, it could have been mistaken as a single item, a singular plant. It was strange how cats saw things the way their eyes saw them from a distance. Eyesight was such a blinkered method of viewing the world. Such a narrow one. Many things existed beyond the reach of eyesight, beyond the reach of the senses: things that relied on the heart, mind, and soul to truly grasp. So thought Toadflax as she hefted her creation in her paws, testing its weight.
All in all, it had been a good night. Now the time came for her to return to the confines of the encampment and immerse herself into the reveries of her slumber.

Disability Research
- Toadflax's missing foreleg would not bother her as much, surprisingly. She would still be capable of walking and running and doing nearly everything else an ordinary feline would do. She must ensure that she does not put on too much weight, as there are fewer limbs for her to balance herself on, although I believe that, considering her overall personality, this would not be much of a problem for her. She would have a more difficult time keeping her claws short by rearing on her hind legs to scratch against a tall object; again, this would not be a problem considering her personality, seeing as she is the type to take frequent walks about, therefore keeping her claws shorter and not as long as they would have been had she lived in a more sheltered environment. Though she would be less inclined to run head-on over slippery surfaces, the missing forelimb would, indeed, strengthen her hind legs.

Emotions:
Happy–A self-satisfied air comes over her when bliss permeates her being, giving her the air of a confident feline who completed all that she has needed for the day. She walks with her head high, and a glint arises in her eyes.
Sad–While Toadflax is rarely sad, when the time comes that the claw of grief snatches her up, she appears melancholy and withdrawn, without even the time to drop a quick joke or jibe.
Angry–The fur along her back springs straight up, her claws unsheathe, and her pupils become slits. This is when she is more likely to throw a biting insult or jeer, or when she is liable to enter a full-blown rant or ramble.
Frightened–Again, Toadflax is seldom frightened, although when indeed she is truly gripped by terror, she backs down with her ears flattened. She does not show true fear, but her stance will become defensive, and a biting edge will appear in her words.

–What causes emotions
Miscellaneous:
–Toadflax smells of crushed pine needles with undertones of dust. The pine needle scent is self-explanatory, garnered from her time around pine trees during her visits to Paventein. As for the dust, she is unafraid to explore the most remote of places, and often gets her pelt covered with a thin layer of soil or dust in the process.
–She sings to herself at night. The songs that she sings are of her own creation, and while most likely many will hear her rhymes as lyrical nonsense, she assigns a special meaning to each word that few can comprehend.
–Her voice is clear and confident, not all that high-pitched, although not quite low, either.
–She speaks briskly and brusquely, her voice possessing a confident edge. She rarely stammers or stutters, and each syllable is pronounced fluidly and dexterously. In the rare occasion that she does not know what to say, a small filler sound will slip loose (“mmh” or “hmmm”) as a sort of garbled hum.
–She has a habit of poking her snout where it doesn't belong, and all too many times she finds herself embroiled in some sort of conflict or drama that resulted from her uncanny knack for meddling. It doesn't matter, however; conflict is the spice of life, and she couldn't live without a tinge of excitement.

Codeword
- I imagine Toadflax would love the taste of rabbit, seeing as she holds a grudge against “feral” ones in general.

Conclusion
- And that concludes my Toadflax application! I really hope you don't have a hard time scrolling through this monstrosity of an application (I received a burst of motivation to add way more to the detailed personality). This has been a joy to write, and while I might not be able to finish the detailed personality in time, I'm satisfied that I've been able to create a character personality that I enjoy, that I can have fun with. Good luck to all of y'all applying for this litter–your entries will be amazing, I can tell–and thank you so much to the hosts for preparing and designing this litter! I'm excited to see where ETSRP goes in the future. Yanna, out! <3

All in all I
