It's because your variable is “local.” That means that only the cat can use it. You will have to delete that variable and create a new one. Make sure that “for this sprite only” is unchecked. Also, in the second sprite it should be scrollX + (480 * 1) not scrollX + (480 * 0.1).

Check if that works, if it doesn't just reply.
