Lego kits

The lego wedo, boost and mindstorms has been discontinued. What is the point of still keeping those extensions?

Why not? It's not like it does any harm, plus those who have purchased them before would still be able to use them.

There are other resources to program the controllers

Yes, but what happens if someone has any of these items, and they want to use Scratch because it is easy and/or accessible?
And, yes, there are other resources, but what happens if they are at a young age?
So, quick answer: they might not be ready to other coding resources (because it might be too hard(for them)).
