Black Cubes With Eyes????

So, I've been on Scratch since 2021, and I keep on seeing platform games with the same black cubes with eyes. I want to look into it more but it appears that nobody really cares much about it. Also, the gameplay is THE SAME EXACT THING, but with a different theme. Common ones include the moon, volcano, grasslands, etc. They are very unoriginal and some Scratchers even commit plagerism when making it (the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.) Does anyone know the sourcd of these platforms? I would like to know. Thank you!

Does plagiarism really apply in a learning environment for children where people just make platformers for fun? No lol

I always seemed to get mad at people in 2022 posts and overuse things like  If you are looking at one of those posts, just note I don't write like this anymore

I mean, technically it is commitng plagiarism, even if it's a childrens website. It's always good to credit the rightful owner.

Yeah but plagiarism is for more serious things, like literature topics. Game ideas can't be owned by someone

Plus, a black cube with eyes is super hard to own since it is really easy to make yourself

One person made one, it got popular, and then more people piggybacked off the trend. It's really common. Say, for example, there was a trend to talk about Percy Jackson (the book series.)

Scratcher A: OMG I love Percy Jackson!
Scratcher B: Percy Jackson? What's that?
Scratcher A: Oh, it's a trend I invented.
Scratcher B: I'll try it out!

Scratcher B: Percy Jackson is the best!!!!
Scratcher C: That looks like a cool trend.

Scratcher C: Percy Jackson rules
Scratcher D: Is that a new trend? I'll try it out!

The process will basically keep repeating until it becomes so popular that it gets tiring to see it. If it's not super popular, it'll die down, but these “generic” platformers are easy to create and popular, so people keep making them.

Hi! I'm pasta_enjoyer7.

My favorite book series is Percy Jackson! I've read all of the books. If you like that series, too, feel free to message me on my profile!

I really enjoy reading books and fanfiction. I also enjoy looking at fanart related to some of my favorite series! My favorite musical is The Greatest Showman. It has some great music!

It's not considered plagiarism on Scratch, considering everything is licenced under Creative Commons.
Edit: Actually, nvm…

Yeah. I timed myself to see how fast I could create one, and I got 27 seconds.
These platformers are easy to create, so that might be why they're that popular.

Yeah that makes sense

Black Cubes With Eyes????

Just an FYI all the posters above… this question isn't asking about plagiarism so anything relating to that is irrelevant. This question is asking about where the black cube with eyes originated.

To answer your question, it is very unlikely that it originated anywhere - as others pointed out, it's very easy to make yourself, so I'm guessing that a bunch of people just started doing it without thinking about it at all.

Thank you for pointing that out. The black cubes are kind of a mystery
