Maybe like a little popup or something kinda like Google. It can be simple too. Similar to this:

But could you explain what kind of warnings would it be?
EDIT: ok the post above me didn’t load
But what kind of irl warnings?
EDIT 2: hhhhh it loaded the edit for me-
But why would we need a flooding, hurricane warning things like that? I thought the news channel was sufficient?

Not everyone watches the news. Nowadays nobody watches it.

So basically, if a tornado was coming, then Scratch would alert you?

Like this?

If you have a phone or tablet, you usually get natural disaster alerts.
If you have a computer, there are better ways to get them then potentially breaking COPPA Laws.

what youre saying is potentially break COPPA by getting geolocation or some complicated stuff.
not alot of people would trust scratch from it.
no support as it isnt as simple as it sounds or feels plus you have other devices
EDIT: ah ninja'd

Just say where the disaster is and don't use geolocation. Maybe only show disasters in your selected country.

my tablet gives me weather warnings
my phone gives me weather warnings
my computer gives me weather warnings
why would we need scratch to now give weather warnings when all our devices already can?

So what if you live in Ohio and there's a hurricane in California that probably won't affect you?

But why would someone in Ohio need to get alerted about severe weather in California?

This is something that doesn't really fit into a kid's programming website. Adding this would be feature creep, where unnecessary features are added to an app and take away from the core features. The development team already has a lot on their hands with the core features, so we shouldn't take away from that by adding something that's way beyond the scope of the project. There are plenty of other services that Scratchers can use to be alerted about disasters.

Why on a kids site? This is not a weather app and tornadoes could scare little kids.
