You CANNOT - I REPEAT: CANNOT - get a virus FROM AN EMBEDDED HTML IMAGE.

Tell me how an html image tag can possibly give you a virus?
Remember when a user uploaded a malicious profile picture, and users got infection warnings?

That is on topic. Discussing wheter Tiny Pic is a Scratch-appropriate site is what this topic is about.

@VoltageGames , did you see the link that Paddle posted? It states that TinyPic does have viruses. I doubt they make them very obvious though, so unless your some really smart computer virus guru, how do you know?

Also, I don't know what you are trying to imply in that first sentence. Are you saying that I'm not allowed to say people don't want viruses unless if I ask everyone? No one wants viruses.. except for you apparently. I don't get your “logic” though if you do.

cool down - and DJDolphin said something like “don't drink kids” and it was for “1000 bottles of beer on the wall” which is just a passing time game. It actually says “drink budweiser but please drink responsibly” and makes you type in please drink responsibly.
So it's PROMOTING DRUGS!!! OH MY GOD NO!!!!

They are staying on topic though. They're discussing why tinypic is a bad influence to young scratchers regardless of the malware

But seriously, anti-tinypic propaganda isn't going to get you anywhere. If anything, it'll cause paranoia between those who have used tinypic to host their images. Also if people are willing to risk it, they should still be able to use it as a host. While you (possibly) can get viruses from the site, at least you know that the images themselves are safe.
Since my preferable uploader, SomeImage, isn't whitelisted (plus blocked on my Mac), I am willing to use my second favorite, Tinypic. It shouldn't be blocked just because some people don't like it.
Some people? Try finding someone who likes viruses on their computer. There's not anything to debate really. Tinypic has viruses, CubeUpload doesn't. Minus the viruses, they are both the same. Why would you care which one you use?
Tell me when you've asked everyone on Earth. THEN you can speak for them.

I've never gotten a virus OR a beer ad and I've been using Tinypic for 2-odd years.
And as for alcohol ads, DJDolphin himself has a project using the word beer. That's just as bad as an ad for beer on an image hosting site that uses captcha, right?

And as for the person who said “I think we should all agree to move to CubeUpload” - Since when are you the king of what uploaders we can use? Maybe I don't want to use CubeUpload. I'm going to use Tinypic for the rest of my life.
Being stubborn just because you don't want to change isn't the answer. Those adverts are out of TP's control; they are supplied by Ad supply. Don't come back here moaning when your browser gets exploited and drive-by-downloads are performed onto your system.

Well to that statement about “Tinypic has no control,” I say this:

well, tinypic doesn't seem all that bad. you can still close most of the ads and the rest don't interfere with the function of the website.

and I bet no one has read their privacy policy yet:
-snip-
tl;dr they can't do anything about their ads.

you either deal with it or use a different image hosting website.
Yeah, the latter of the two options sounds better; use cubeupload.

Also, Tinypic could just overhaul their whole advertising scheme; replacing it with ads by Google, which is waaayyy more monitored than what they have now.
They NEED to change what company they get their ads from.

Google ads are possibly even worse! You still get the same kind of ads, you get tracking cookies forced upon you, and there were those Doubleclick exploits too, and worst of all, it's Google!

It's Scratch's policy to only allow user made sites that follow the CG. Scratch has tinypic whitelisted, and tinypic violates quite a few CG!

I don't understand what you're saying - my point was that Scratch can't say tinypic is allowed when tinypic has horrible ads.

A mutiny is overthrowing a certain person or group of authority. We are overthrowing tinypic as our image provider.

And keep a respectful tone in your internet voice (be respectful to others and don't say stuff like “do you even” or “seriously”). When I read that, it almost sounded rude.

in what way did tinypic have any authority whatsoever, it's just one of multiple image hosts that scratch allows

It has control over our images, I guess, and it's one of the sites that many Scratchers look up to for their images.

@VoltageGames why are you encouraging this dangerous website in your signature? I know you're free to put whatever you want there but if you even read the first page of this topic, you'd know what a horrible website you are supporting.

It doesn't really matter. Tinypic: VoltageGames. CubeUpload: everyone else.
