Down With Tinypic!
By “safe” I mean as in the sense of viruses.Despite the off-topic-ness of my posts they were still valid…
But seriously, anti-tinypic propaganda isn't going to get you anywhere. If anything, it'll cause paranoia between those who have used tinypic to host their images. Also if people are willing to risk it, they should still be able to use it as a host. While you (possibly) can get viruses from the site, at least you know that the images themselves are safe.
(I keep getting ninjaed today…)
I would rather play it on the safe site. Someone might be willing to risk it - and not be careful and infect themselves. The images are safe, but. Tinypic is not. Who knows? Tinypic could infect the images! Then we'd be in trouble.
Lol…
Not what I meant by “safe”. I mean since Tinypic moderates their images to some extent. I don't think you can get a virus by looking at an image.

Propaganda implies that it is some kind of hyperbolic or fictitious accusation. Tinypic is actually infected with malware, so this is more like a public service announcement. But seriously, anti-tinypic propaganda isn't going to get you anywhere.

Exactly. Once people see a lot of the active community members with hundreds of posts saying that TinyPic is evil, they will probably believe it.Propaganda implies that it is some kind of hyperbolic or fictitious accusation. Piano. Sorry, but there are ways to hide ads and it's by far the most convenient way to give people icons etc. It's so widely used that it would cause a lot of commotion if it was no longer allowed.

We got rid of the number of followers. Sure, it caused commotion, but I'm sure we'll get over it in a week. Piano. Of course, I'm open to hearing if anyone has a workaround- but we all know that uploading, say, an icon onto Scratch greatly lowers the quality.
I understand what you're all getting at, there just isn't any way to get around using the site. There is no alternative that I'm aware of.

Sorry, but there are ways to hide ads and it's by far the most convenient way to give people icons etc. It's so widely used that it would cause a lot of commotion if it was no longer allowed. It's an inconvenience- with followers, you can still see it, but with tinypic, there's no way around it. This is like saying we should make a 13+ version of Scratch (which we all know isn't going to happen)- deviantArt is pretty much the only other way to give it to people and you have to be over 13 to join.

It's close to a good alternative, but it requires an account and many younger Scratch users aren't allowed to do that without parental permission.cubeupload.But you're ignoring my other pointsWe got rid of the number of followers. But TinyPic can be inappropriate i guess? I haven't really seen anything inappropriate when you're just going to one particular image but I guess there's the chance.
Idk, I'm not exactly totally opposed to removing the site but I just don't see an equal alternative.

Ah, okay. But isn't the potential for bad ads the same as TinyPic?No it doesn't. it requires an account
(Just to be clear, I don't use TinyPic. I honestly don't know.)

I have ads enabled on CubeUpload, and it only has one ad on the front page for legitimate file sharing sites.Ah, okay. But isn't the potential for bad ads the same as TinyPic?No it doesn't. it requires an account

Okay. So I'm not exactly against taking down TinyPic, but CubeUpload does seem like a better alternative.Ah, okay. But isn't the potential for bad ads the same as TinyPic?No it doesn't. it requires an account

It doesn't do really horrible advertising. Cubeupload is a lot better at ads than *ahem* tinypic.

Since my preferable uploader, SomeImage, isn't whitelisted (plus blocked on my Mac), I am willing to use my second favorite, Tinypic. It shouldn't be blocked just because Despite the off-topic-ness of my posts they were still valid…some people don't like it.

As mentioned before, tinypic does open tabs that may lead to sites that could give you a virus. This isn't good news especially for younger people who may not recognize a scam when they see it. Also tinypic seems to display ads about alcoholism, and even ITS CAPTCHAS are sometimes ads. Tinypic is just a bad host, I think we should all agree to move to cubeupload.Since my preferable uploader, SomeImage, isn't whitelisted (plus blocked on my Mac), I am willing to use my second favorite, Tinypic. We're not talking about embedded images here on Scratch, we're talking about exploitations on Tinypic itself. Tinypic moderates it's images better than it moderates it's own ads. This is why I only support discouraging people from using it, and not blacklisting it. You CANNOT - I REPEAT: CANNOT - get a virus FROM AN EMBEDDED HTML IMAGE.
Tell me how an html image tag can possibly give you a virus?
