Obsolete and Peculiar Media Formats
Do CDs count as obsolete now? I know like 2 people (people meaning kids from school) who use them. On the topic of CDs I got two new ones for my birthday today, Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix and Nevermind by Nirvana :D

CDs are still being very much sold at a plenty of commercial retailers, so I don't think so… Do CDs count as obsolete now? I know like 2 people (people meaning kids from school) who use them. Because Flexidisc somehow is 65% affiliated to Floppi. (in terms of form.)Apparently, they were small, flexible, vinyl discs you could store music, or even floppy disc data on. What are flexidiscs

Here's one people never talk about:
Live freaking music
Like I know it's not dead
But the vast majority of recordings of songs people listen to are not acoustically recorded
And microphones can apply pitch correction in real time now
The only places you know for a fact they aren't tuning anything other than maybe for effect
Are Broadway and Opera Houses
Now I do wanna say that it's not bad to use tuners
They're very necessary if you want every pitch to be exactly right, especially with the modern style where notes are sung straight, since it's very hard to keep a note completely stable when it's sung that way
But even Broadway cast recordings recently have been applying pitch correction
It really feels like recording songs and then just releasing the recordings of the songs is dead
Back in the eighties, pitch correction was really bad so it was obvious most recordings had no correction
But today, even when something sounds real it could still have pitch correction on it
And I get it, nobody wants their recording to be imperfect if they're meant to listen to it over and over
But if you were to offer to correct an opera singer who was flat on one note or who blanked and sang something incorrectly
They would be offended by that
I know I would
Edit: Broadway contracts necessitate using a certain number of live musicians and all singing being live, it takes a lot of negotiation to even use limited pre recorded songs and it has to have artistic significance for the show in order to be approved
Opera singers never think for a second to tune their voices, why would you practice perfect technique for twenty years just to let a computer fix it for you?

We talk about media stored on physical objects, not recordings. Here's one people never talk about:
Live freaking music
By the way,
Did you know that there are postage stamps that can play a record?

tefifon to be very interesting. I thought this was particularly cool:bumping this up, 78rpm was very solid. I found theI don't know how good that is but sounds like this was an ok form of media Sound quality was better than that offered by 78 rpm records

Those weird cards (Not cartidges!) you could get for the SEGA Master System. I love the console, but I wouldn't be able to tell you a single game that was released in that format (Probably because they could hold a lot less compared to carts)

Does the Play-Yan/Play-Yan Micro count? It was a cartridge you could put into your Game Boy Advance and it would turn it into a Mp3 player.
It also has a mascot called the same thing which you might recognize if you are a fan of Rhythm Heaven.

UMDs and Compact Flash cards.
umds are weird, cf cards are for some old 90s laptops.
