I hear this is a coding site, what language does it use?
I'm a beginner programmer and I just got here. I heard all about coding blocks and them being powered by an existing programming language. I'm just wondering about the programming language scratch is based off of so I could probably advance to the actual coding program once I get used to this thing.
That's all, thx!

I'm fairly certain Scratch is coded in Javascript.

I think it was…… Javascript? I'm not good at any coding languages outside scratch, so I can't remember them all the time. So, I may be wrong.

To be more exact, Scratch uses JSX and React (at the very least, to my knowledge)

Sweet! Javascript (or JSX) could probably be my go-to program language in the near to far future! I hear it's easier to learn and get used to. Thanks for the info

FOR PREVIOUS VERSIONS:
Scratch 1.x was made in Squeak (an implementation of Smalltalk). Scratch 2.0 was coded in Adobe Flash.

(#7)Yes, and the main reason for the… what's the word… sudden switch from 2.0 to 3.0 was because the end of Adobe Flash was near, and projects would not be able to run without it. That means they had to rewrite all of scratch again.
Interesting. Looks like I have a lot to learn about this site!
