I posted this in the “help with scripts” forum as well because so many people there ask how to do scrolling backgrounds, but I wanted to share it here too.

I see a bunch of posts on the discussion forums about “how do I do a scrolling background”. I think I've created an excellent demo for how to do it. This is the best method I've come up with, and the best part is that you should be able to just drop the scrolling sprite right into your games and use it.

This is the ultimate scrolling background solution. Only 1 sprite is used for the scrolling! Super fast, super efficient, easy to understand, lot's of comments in the script so you can learn how it works. It's ready for you to use in your games!

No more cluttering your programs with a bunch of sprites to handle scrolling. My solution uses 1 sprite so your program remains clean and you can focus on creating your game. All you have to do is insert your background images and you are ready to go.
