Custom Level Codes for Rhythm Prism: Community Mix

Rhythm Prism: Community Mix has been released recently, and so far it's becoming very popular and successful*! So let me share a secret with all of you: Did you know that Community Mix has a built-in level editor? Yeah, I'm surprised**, too! With the new built-in level editor, you can make your own levels*** and share them with others!

* That's a bold-faced lie, by the way. It only had 21 views when this was typed.
** That's another lie. I kind of already knew there was a level editor. I made the editor, and it was originally going to be the project itself. I also made the official beatmaps using the editor.
*** As of September 15, 2023, custom songs are now uploadable (exclusive to the Game Jolt version of this game: https://gamejolt.com/games/community-mix/822978)

To open the editor, go to the main menu and select Play. Then select Level Editor, the button directly below Community Levels (which will be discussed later). It will take you to the editor. On the left hand side, you will see the name of the song selected and some buttons. On the right hand side, you will see a 4x16 grid (it might even be a 4x12 grid if the song selected has a time signature of 3/4, e.g. X-Mas The Spot). Above the grid, you will see the letters D, F, J, and K over each column. These are the keys being used. Below the grid is the number of notes currently in the beatmap. On the left side of the grid, you will see numbers. These numbers display the beat number of each row.

Now for the part you've all been waiting for (maybe) - we can get to editing! First, click the Change Song button and select the song you want (you can even search for one!). Then, place the notes in the column of the key you would like to use (e.g. if you place a note anywhere in the first column, it will be a D note), in the beat where the note should be. You can also place hold notes by either holding on to an existing note or presing the Z key and clicking where you want the hold note to be. If you press up or down, you can navigate through the beatmap. You can only go as far as the number of beats in each song. Also, it is recommended to not place notes in the first 3 beats (unless a player miraculously has Precise Timings enabled before playing your beatmap).

Now it's time for the buttons! There's the Save button, if you want to save your beatmap and continue working on it later* (or if you want to post the here so others can load and play it using the Community Levels button). There's the Load button, so you can load an existing beatmap (you can even load other people's codes and change them too!) and continue where you left off. There's the New button, so you can discard your current beatmap and make a new one.

There's the Preview button**, where you can preview your level in real time, starting with the beat you're on now (this will take a while to load if the beat you are on is greater than zero)! The level will be autoplayed during playtesting (you can also practice by tapping the keys at the right moment!). There's the Jump to Beat button, where you can jump to any beat just by typing its number (it is recommended to jump to the beginning of the beatmap before previewing your beatmap). There's the aforementioned Change Song button that we've already discussed. There's the Copy Notes button, where you can copy the notes in a select area and then paste them elsewhere. There's the Move Notes button, where you can type a beat number and move all the notes that are past that beat by any value. This can be useful in some cases. Finally, there's the Quit button, where you will be asked to confirm if you wish to leave the editor (don't worry, all changes are automatically saved!).

* Another recommended way to save your beatmap would be to go to the main menu and save the entire game, which will also save your beatmap.
** This is useful if you've just changed the song and the beatmap is not letting you go far enough. After changing a song, always click Preview and then click Edit to return to the editor. This bug will be patched immediately if present.

When you're finished entirely and you've fully playtested your level, you can save your beatmap and then return to the main menu. Then you can either post it in this discussion forum for others to play or click Community Levels to play your level the way you play the official levels. Can't wait to see the unique patterns you guys come up with! For a challenge, try making better beatmaps for the PRISMpossible levels! Here’s an example code, featuring my new song Electrus which was added on April 29:
