Help. I am using my dad's old headphones and it has a built in mic. But the thing is the mic is not connecting so I cannot record my own voice. I have a WH-XB900N headphones if that could at least help you find an answer! Thank you!

first, I would make sure its that the microphone is working, it might not be a scratch issue.

sound bar at the bottom left -> right click -> sound settings, and then choose and test your Input part. Make sure it works. If it doesn't, i suggest taking to the web, there's a variety of issues possible.

Also, make sure your microphone isn't blocked. Right click the (lock) image next to the url -> site settings -> microphone access -> enabled/allow.

Also, make sure the computer port you plug the headset into supports microphones. It should have 4 “segments” and fit fully in.
(theres more to it but thats the general specs needed)

So. I did manage to unblock my mic. But now There is one problem. What do I say in the search kay in order to turn my microphone into headphones so it can make my headphones use the microphone. since it does not let me get the mic to change.
