Put a moderation action on GWDFI

For those don't know, GWDFI is an abbreviation for “Girls Who Don't Fit In”, a popular studio. It is so active that the comments section are always getting filled from just a few minutes. But with this great popularity also comes with a hint of toxicity and brashness. Many people do talk about some topics, sometimes even sex. I wish not to show any screenshots to at least conceal identity and mitigate the chances of drama here.

Ten Scratchers that I know believe that the Scratch Team must put a motion against GWDFI, hindering its popularity. If we hinder GWDFI's popularity, there is less chances of inappropriate comments popping up, with the decline of attention.

My proposition is that we must NFE GWDFI (censor them from most places) as they live up to the stereotype of always talking about inappropriate and iffy subjects, even if those media don't necessarily evade the guidelines. I don't want to be biased and say that GWDFI must be dealt with because it has “quirky” users; that I can care much less about. What I do mean is that we must somehow deal with inappropriate and sketchy media popping up there, and hopefully curving and even decrease it.

Here is a list of inappropriate content, that we have seen.
- Romantic roleplays
- Some instances of using external communication especially by Magma, a drawing site where one could join a call and draw stuff. I have actually joined a Magma site anonymously, and there were sex jokes in the chat. Can't imagine what would it be like at this rate for joining a call.
- “DNI” comments. These are comments where the commenter would publicly name and shame someone, and ironically, telling others to Do Not Interact with them.

I know that the Scratch Team is very much unlikely to delete GWDFI (I'd opt), but I at least I can make a difference. We, the guild, can make a difference. Although Scratch should be inclusive to most media, we cannot embrace such content which breaks the guidelines. If a Scratch Team happens to decline this, please say so, and do please be aware of this situation. Remember not to post angry harangues in the discussion.

Anyways, it might be better to encourage people to report CG breaking things, to lower inappropriate content there.

Not to mention but as a magma scratcher who did that and suffered the consequences (I apologized), Pls don't give out magma codes or links. Scratch may not filter what a slam of a computer or an actual code is so….

I hope that would not happen again.

You cannot simply just destroy a Scratch studio. Sure, some stuff is toxic, but that's what the report button is for. Lots of people NEED GWDFI as an emotional support center, one of them being me.

So you're saying we should just let hundreds of people lose their homes, the place where they can truly be themselves? GWDFI has helped me a lot, and will continue to help others… very rarely it is toxic, I have witnessed.

I think that GWDFI is a amazing place to make friends and to get support. Sure somethings might need to change but we can't just get rid of the studio.

GWDFI is a fun studio, and while I believe that there /are/ some problems with it, I don't think the right decision is to just get rid of it. There's a report button for a reason. Feel free to report us, but I don't think this is the correct response to it.

Hi, GWDFI manager here. I'm not by any means speaking on behalf of the studio or the managers, just wanted to share my thoughts. I agree that we need better moderation. We've struggled with this for quite a while. I try my best to report/discourage comments that go against the CGs and I know other people do too, but it is a large studio. I definitely agree with you that comments should be kept family friendly and that people have a tendency to make more adult comments there. I don't know exactly what you mean by “hindering popularity,” but I'd be open to hearing how we can improve and make the studio a safer and more appropriate place.

A lot of people are negative on GWDFI and us GWDFIers help them. I think that GWDFI has stopped people from committing. A lot of people use it as a therapy option if they can't go to therapy or are too afraid to talk to an adult or call a hotline. We should respect and support that, not get rid of these people's only way to stay /alive/.
