here's the W A R P to the game by the way (the code is “cube with gun”, which is probably the best choice for a password EVER.)

So I want some epic C U S T O M I Z A T I O N in my game, and I usually just use costumes or something in my other games.
But here's the problem: this game has animation on the main character, using costumes.

How do I change the appearance of the character? Some would just say, “change the color”. The thing is, my character is PURE WHITE, and if I change the color it barely changes the color at all. It only turns “pale red” or “pale blue” or something like that.

yeah. and please do not suggest putting the other body parts into another sprite. I already put a LOT of things inside the main sprite, I don't want to transfer some into another one.

Colours in Scratch have a color, saturation and brightness.
If the Saturation of the colour is 0, that means there is none of the Color.

The colours White, Black and all Grays have Saturation 0.
This is why changing the Color Effect doesn't work with them.

If you try changing the Color Effect when the worker is watering a plant, you will see that the Green watering can will change color, but the white and black worker is hardly changed.

If you want to change the white and black colours of the worker, I think you will need to make a copy of every costume and change the white and/or black to a colour (eg. red and blue).
Use the original costumes while the worker is white and black, but change to the corresponding red and blue worker costume and change the Color Effect when you want to make the worker change colour.

Make the base costume red, then change colour as needed.
Edit: Make sure it is the colour effect.

how exactly would I do that? (the blocks)
and how would I change it to white? as far as I know, you can't change the Color effect to white…

Have one of the costumes be white, and one of them red for changing colours. (Also by the way use a different sprite for the carrying thing to reduce the costumes.)

what do you mean by the “carrying thing”?

The costumes where the character is carrying an item.
