Recently, I logged on Scratch and found that the colours of the buttons in the ‘'explore’' tab were changed slightly. They now seem to be darker. Is this a recent change (probably for accessibility?)

Yes, it was made along with the remix update and all greens on the website were darkened for accessibility.

It's to make the text easier to read. They want to eventually check the entire site's text contrast.

I could imagine we might get a setting to change between high contrast and the old colors, or the designers will just find a balance that looks good and is accessible. While I’d personally choose the previous brighter green for myself, I do think the new dark green was a pretty good choice for accessibility without looking awful.

It's not only helpful for colorblind users, but for people with other vision disabilities, too. The change makes the text stand out more.
