my hands are mostly full with deternity, but i could help program if you get stuck on something. i think of myself as a pretty good programmer. (just look at the code behind deternity! omg its HUGE!!! if i want to modify a script it takes me a minute just to find it!) Maybe im not but id like to help

for the application-
Mario games? first thing i ever played was super mario all stars for super nintendo. Also, i played super mario world. but that wasn't mine so eventually i couldnt play it anymore but i found an old NES at my grandmothers house and played SMB and SMB 3 on that. Later, i got hooked on an online emulator version of SMB 2, and eventually got a DS. On that, I've played every mario game they have for it and same for Wii and 3DS.
yeah, ive done it all, pretty much. only thing i can't put on my list is the original smash bros and melee and SM sunshine.
How long have i used scratch? well, when i started i was in my second semester of computer class in 6th grade. i mainly worked on a long comedy film (it was about five minutes and earned me schoolwide fame) but when i was at home during the summer i started dozens of other little scratch projects (none of them really got finished). Currently im in my sophomore year of high school (well, when september rolls around.)
What xp do i have?
take a look at this game. (warning- its kinda violent) then the code behind it- check all the sprites, theres a TON. i also think of myself as specializing in platforming AI.

Well, first of all, we will start when we have more people. Second, if you're really that interested, here it is:
Have you played any Mario games, if so, which ones?: The original three SMB's on NES, Super Mario World, I've played a bit of Super Mario Sunshine, and I've played New Super Mario Bros. And New Super Mario Bros. Wii
How long have you used Scratch?: about 2 years, give or take, but most of my work is on an old account, SJRCS11_010

What experience do you have in this field?: Well I have programmed several platform games, most of which I never posted, the one I DID post wasn't very good. I have been writing these sorts of stories ever since I got into Mario, and, again, I have programmed some platformers where I designed levels.

i think we had better get started. or at least find the graphics and sounds needed, and think of an “idea” for the indev version. which would be, like just one level, or part of a level, or a room with all the types of blocks, powerups, and enemies. (that last one is pretty good, but the level idea is too. start small, y'know?)

If you want, and you give me the sounds and graphics, i will make a prototype. i'll probably start without mystery boxes or anything like that though, in the current version of deternity i hacked my own game so pressing the 1 and 2 keys changes the weapon you have with you, so ill probably do something like that for the BASIC powerups. ill also add goombas and a small stage and that will be our prototype! BUT YOU GOTTA GIVE ME THE SPRITES AT LEAST!!!

Ok, first of all, you're in, secondly, I kinda thought we could do a story other than the regular old cliche “Princess Peach is Kidnapped” thing. Like the paper mario games. Third, I think I recognize your username (I used to have another account called SJRCS11_010, if that means anything to you)

No, I mean an engine as in a platforming engine pre made in scratch
