They aren't maintaining them, and you can use the linux versions.

Scratch 1.4 and 2.0 are outdated and unsupported, meaning that the Scratch Team doesn't care about them anymore.

Here if you want old things:

https://scratcharchive.naleksuh.com/

but you can’t use scratch 2.0

because you can’t install the standalone flash projector on chrome book because its an .exe

and ruffle only supports as1 or as2

and scratch 2.0 uses as3

Yeah that also works.

The website says:
Running Scratch 2.0 files online is not currently available at the moment - due to the EOL of Flash, Flash files can only be run in browsers via Flash emulators. Currently, only the technology to run ActionScript 1 and 2 exists, and Scratch 2.0 was built using ActionScript 3. In order to try out Scratch 2.0 versions at this time, you'll need to download this Flash file and run it using Adobe Projector. I will add the ability to run Scratch 2.0 versions online as soon as it is possible.
However I'm not sure if it's going to come out anytime soon. I hope that someday they're going to make something for AS3.
Another option is this recreation:

Sadly though you can't view the code because the repository was deleted.

Yes I know I literally linked that method in a project and use the online ver of 2.0.

And you probably can get 2.0’s linux version.

Doesn’t that refer to the offline editor?
And quote the entry if you think it is rejected.

They mean 2.4, but this isn’t really the current scratch editor. However I doubt it will be done and you could probably use the Linux versions.

I think? I’m not sure

Anyway scratch doesn’t support old versions so it wouldn’t be updated

Adobe Air supports chrome book IIRC, and that entry refers to the online editor.
They could, in theory, support Chromebook for the offline editors, which might be best due to them being popular.

Wait, so does the Linux version of 1.4 work on Chromebook?
And what about the Linux ver of 2.0? Yes I know it doesn’t show here:
https://scratch.mit.edu/download/scratch2
But here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20180311203338/https://scratch.mit.edu/download
ALSO THAT NEW URL CONFUSES ME.

Don’t many schools block Linux mode? As such, direct Chromebook support may be a good idea, as many people likely use older versions for class.

Okay I’ve never seen a school with chromebooks that doesn’t get mad when you “install a virus”. But maybe (though they might not due to 1.4 being replaced nearly 10 years ago and 2.0 being replaced 4 years ago).

2.3 Set the editor to look like older versions of Scratch
Some users prefer the look and feel of the Scratch 1.4 and 2.0 editors, and have suggested an option to make the editor look like Scratch 1.4 or 2.0, but still run off of HTML5 like Scratch 3.0 does. However, this would be more complicated for educational and documentation purposes. It could be confusing if someone is trying to learn Scratch from someone who is using a completely different layout of the editor than them.

In addition, the Scratch Team changed the design for a reason: to make it easier, more intuitive, and friendlier for newcomers to use. If you dislike the Scratch 3.0 editor, you can still download the Scratch 1.4 or Scratch 2.0 offline editors.

2.4 Revert back to older versions of the Scratch editor
The Scratch editor has to update sometimes to accommodate certain changes. In particular, an online editor that ran off of Adobe Flash (rather than Java) was added in the Scratch 2.0 editor, and the Scratch 3.0 editor was created for tablet support and in anticipation of the discontinuation of Flash. Changing the editor back to these older versions would not only undo years of hard work by the Scratch Team, but they also might not work online anymore. If you wish, you can download the Scratch 1.4 and Scratch 2.0 offline editors.

The Scratch Team is still working on bug fixes, new features, and other improvements on the Scratch 3.0 editor. The new interface was created in such a way that it is easy for the Scratch Team to keep working on improvements. The Scratch Team will continue to evaluate constructive feedback on how they could improve upon the current Scratch editor.

That's for the online editor, not having something available for download.
