this is completely normal for programs that haven't been downloaded loads. if it were a virus then this topic would've been taken down a while ago.

Ah, I believe this and other Scratch 1.x mods will not run on newer versions of macOS as they are not 64-bit applications.

is this broken? I have tried to use clones and I keep getting errors. I cant tell if I am using it wrong or if it just broken because it is from 2013.

Oh, does macOS not have as much compatibility as Windows? Microsoft went overkill when it came to backwards compat.

Oh, does macOS not have as much compatibility as Windows? Microsoft went overkill when it came to backwards compat.

A few years back macOS dropped support for 32-bit applications. My theory (I have not seen this confirmed) is that it was to make life easier for them developing Rosetta 2. Apple Silicon has some hardware-level stuff and Rosetta 2 for compatibility with 64-bit software designed for Intel Macs.

In theory, Scratch 1.4 and its mods could be ported to a newer 64-bit version of Squeak that would run on newer Macs.

This might have been mentioned already, but if I attempt to change the colour of a sprite (using the standard change colour effect by block) , it becomes blank (invisible).

Do you mean in the mod, and do you have color effect selected?
