Dream - Scratch Mod

dreamod wrote:

Hi, this is the topic for Dream, a Scratch mod I , Dreamod, have been developing.

I am unfortunately not working on it since I am quite busy with other stuff including studying science with 4 HL under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB), and working on music and photography etc. However, I would be very glad to teach a new generation of scratchers how to code in Squeak, explain how to make a mod and I'd love to aid in programming tougher features. If you have any questions or need help please feel free to write something.

Dream primarily focuses on adding few but very powerful blocks that greatly expand on what the user can do.
Scratch Wiki article on Dream by pugluv4ever http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Dream_(Scratch_Modification)
12 new categories have been added.
Some of the new features added include:
- Procedures
- Image handling blocks
- Improved MIDI function
- Temporary variables
- Colors
- File I/O (also supporting sounds and images etc…)
- Cursor blocks
- Increased motor support
- GUI block options (such as Dialogs, String Editors, and Menus)
- Increased List Support
- Access to Sprite's media via blocks
- Info tab

Dream is finally Done! Version one anyways.

Dreamod, every time I make a difference (adding a block via browser)in your mod, it resumes to it's original position. What does it mean, is it a bug?

Hi! It might be a bug (?) I'm honestly not sure what feature you're talking about though

While I have developed what I personally think are some amazing features, I am a pretty sloppy person so I also left lots of bugs in xD (sorry)

Unfortunately, I am very busy nowadays and haven't done anything scratch-related in the past year because I am very busy with various things (IB). But it is quite possible that I might start working on Dream again in the future when I find the time.

I try to check my account every few weeks though xD

As long as you say it's based off of Dream and Scratch and use the same licenses

Well… guess what?

Gonna make it, and will special thank @dreamod and MIT Lab for this.
However, on negatve side, it is gonna be very different, so this might take at least some months. (might include HTML blocks(Webblox referce, I am giving stom credit to it's creator), some new categories, 3-D blocks, text-to-speech blocks, custom blocks, child-friendly mode, compilablility with Scratch 2.0, and ScratchX,also with Webblox and BYOB, cloud lists, .etc)

P.S.

Your signature? O_O It knows what OS and browser am I using! O_o

Go ahead! Especially since I'm not currently working on Dream I encourage you to incorporate aspects from my mod in your own. After all, that is what I did. I was heavily inspired by Panther and various other mods and wanted to create the “dream mod”. The mod that can do what all these many mods can do. It is only fair that I allow everyone else to do the same with mine. Also, the license does say I have to make it open-source.

Thanks, dreamod, I will do it . Currently I made some few early builds, but working on concepts too. Since the finished version may not contained every feature I wanted, but updates may too. Gonna leak it sooner or later.

That's OK, Dreamod, everyone make mistakes. But still, can you patch it so I can save it without problems and continue development? I would be more thankful. Sorry if you are too busy to patch it.
The feature I am talking about is the developer mode. I added atleast ONE block via system browser (Added ‘Say Nothing’ block), edited some codes in block, but it ALWAYS resumed to original position.

-Morph
So, I want to make some changes, so I clicked dev mode, open broswer, use “Scratch-Morphs”, scholled down a bit, clicked “ScriptableScratchMorph”, then clicked “class”, then “block specs”, then "blockSpecs, type ('say nothing' #- #sayNothing) anywhere (for example, Sound category, I am too lazy to be honest). A ‘say nothing’ block appears, when I save and restart, it resumes to original position.

Unfortunately, no. Partly because I am a mac user and I didn't really have the resources to test such a feature so I would have had to outsource this to someone else. Additionally, I feel that Dream, like Scratch, is a tool for learning programming and getting a very responsive programming experience. It is meant to inspire creative thinking and prepare programmers for more advanced programming later on by getting programming enthusiasts familiar with basic concepts. If you want to make stand alone applications then perhaps it might be time to move on and learn about more advanced programming languages?
