Wake up, stay safe, keep living.
- “You have 3 Missed Reminders” (six-word-story, 6 words)

You appear as you are— trickling like an hourglass timer arriving at its ending. How does it feel to waver between holding my hand and holding onto your breath? Your eyes flutter and lips quiver like a prayer, and I am here, delivering your final wish.

I pull the cord.
- “Dismissal from the Hospital” (dribble, 50 words)

It’s raining at the bus stop, and I’ve lost my way to get home. My nose is a gargoyle, dedicated to letting the water slip down my face facade and drip into one conceived stream. My suit is likely either ruined or has received a free laundry wash, though I’m sure those two don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Usually, this would be the time that I glance to the side and see you protecting me with your umbrella or an embrace; I’m still getting used to the phantom urges after rejection. So, with wet hair, I walk home alone.

November 7-8 Daily: Flash Fiction

Twitterature: I took the long way home for the first time in a long time. Normally I'd cut across an alley and come up right behind my house, but I decided on the scenic route today. Today I skirted the alley and went all the way around the block. I saw people, plants, and animals I had never seen before. A middle-aged woman was sitting in a rocking chair on her porch—I had remembered her with a swollen belly, but now there was a child, perhaps 3 years old, sitting on her lap. A young tree I had seen years ago was now phasing into its adulthood, its height tripled from what it was before. A stray cat I had seen as a kitten blinked at me with bright yellow eyes. As I absorbed my surroundings, I realized that perhaps I had missed out on so many lives while living my own. An extra three minutes each day would have allowed me to see growth over years. With that thought, I resolved that I would take the long way home from now on.

Six-Word Story: I sat alone, finally at peace.
6 words

Dribble: I waited for her every day. I waited for her after class, after lunch, and after school. Days passed, but she never came. I berated myself for my stupidity—how slow was I to think that she was still here, that she was still with me? That she was still alive?

6 Word Stories (6 Words Each):
Wounded by you, but not forever.
I always came back, but why?

Drabble (99 Words):
She was by her desire to find her siblings. It could be this time, but it was the same thing she always told herself. She looked through the scope, aiming carefully. Bang. Bang. Bang. She smiled, her precision was spot on. Within seconds she had dematerialized the high-powered sniper and materialized long, twin blades. Suddenly, a burly, bald man burst through the roof door. He had his own blades.
“Phantom.” he hissed. Her only response was to smile and disarm and interrogate him, but she got nothing, she always did. He’d never heard of them. No one ever did.

Word Count: 118

They were all gathered around the room. Together. Happy.
They were one.
A young woman looked around at the smiling faces, glad that they were all here. It was one of the most joyous days of her life.
Time passed by, until she finally found herself back in that room. Rain poured in waves from outside the window, which was blown open by the wind. A gust came through and whipped at her black gown.
She was old now. No one else was there.
She was alone.

An empty nest. A bird’s mournful song.

here's the Main cabin daily

I ran. They would soon be on my tail, I had to keep going. I had to get the medicine to Mother. She needed it and I couldn't let her slip away, not like Father or Silas, she was the one person keeping me from going insane in this cruel world. I was almost to our neighborhood, if only I could just run faster! I sprinted from shadow to shadow, trying to stay unseen. If anyone looked out their window right now and saw me they would call Azazel's guards, and that would be it. They would flog me for staying out past curfew and if they found the medicine I stole I would be sentenced to death. Mother needed me and I needed her, we were all each other had. Ever since The Sickness came about Azazel had cut off all socialization; school was canceled, walls around the city were built, and a curfew was installed. I longed to stop and knock on a large gray door where I knew my old friend, Arwen lived. I longed to help her, for I knew she had come down with The Sickness too. But I couldn't stop, not even to ask for refuge because I knew her parents would have no choice but to give me up to Azazel. Azazel said he would give free medicine and an extra day of rations to those who helped him seek out and destroy those who worked in The Resistance. But I knew it was a lie, he would never give them what they wanted, he was a liar and a cheat. Words can't describe how much I loath him. He's always been a tyrant, when he took over he said it was for the better but no, he immediately installed unfair laws and cruel practices. That's how The Resistance came about, they want to take down Azazel and return things to the way they were. I quickened my pace I was almost there, just a little bit farther–a shadow loomed in front of me and I knew that was it.

I stared out my window, it was pouring rain. I could barely see our cars in the driveway. I listened to the news screaming its headlines in the background, “Severe storm warning, stay inside!” and “Flash floods, do not leave your house!”. It was the stupid hurricane causing all of this–hurricane Francis they called it– it had been terrorizing the coastline for three days now. I'm not sure how long I sat at the window, looking out at the storm but not really seeing it, lost in thought. Oh, how I wish this would all go away! I yell behind me made me sit up, my father was yelling for my brothers, “Boys quickly! We need to get the house ready! The hurricanes coming this way!” I leaped up, shocked. I never thought this would ever happen to us!

The ship rocked this way and that, and I stood leaning over the side feeling sick. I've never felt this nauseous before. I tried focusing on the yells of the sailors to keep myself occupied but of course, it didn't work. I wobbled over the deck trying to get to the door of my cabin where I could curl up under a blanket. Then suddenly the ship lurched and I fell forward face-first onto the deck, I had no time to cry out for something loomed up out of the water. Something green and scaly, something with a long neck and wide dinner-plate-sized red eyes. I leaped up screaming, fumbling with my sword trying to draw it out. The sailors yelled and then the monster was apon us a drew my sword and struck at it but it glanced off and only succeeded in making the creature angry. It tried to grab me but I stabbed it in the eye and it reared back screaming–a low, ancient noise that sets your hair on end–and then quick as lighting it had me in its grasp and was pulling me under the cold, violent waves and that was when I lost consciousness.

Weekly Two
Word Count:
Part One
(Done with the wonderful Moss from Fantasy <3)
First Interview (181 words for me the interviewer, 278 for Moss the interviewee(?))

{Dawn}: {Clears throat} Let's start. If you could only choose one, who would you say is your all-time favourite author and why?

{Moss}: Awesome question!! {looks briefly up and to the right, thinking hard} Probably Leigh Bardugo. She is absolutely incredible at world building and character development–everything that I've read by her has been so interesting!!

{Dawn}: {Grins} I've read one of her books, she's definitely become one of my favourite authors as well. Next question… {Pauses to glance at a card in hand} Out of your favourite author's books, which would you say is your favourite?

{Moss}: That's a really hard one! Probably {pauses to consider} one of the Six of Crows duology books. I'm not entirely sure which of the two, though–the first one has a really great plot, but the second is partially told through the point of view of my favorite character. I also recently read the Demon in the Wood graphic novel, the art was amazing!! {smiles}

{Dawn}: I'll have to read those! {grins} Our next question is a hard one. {pauses for dramatic effect} What book wouldn't you recommend?

{Moss}: {gasps in horror} I…I don't know! {looks over to bookshelf} Maybe Rule of Wolves? It was interesting, but it just felt like it was dragging on for a bit too long.

{Dawn}: {smiles understandingly} I know exactly how you feel. {slight pause} Earlier you said that your favourite book was probably one of the Six of Crows books. If you could change anything in that book, what would it be?

{Moss}: Ooh, that's another hard one! {leans back in her chair} It's really hard to think of something that I don't love about Six of Crows, but one thing that SLIGHTLY irritates me is that every character except my favorite narrates the first book! If I could change something, I would probably add my favorite as a narrator there.

{Dawn}: Ooh, that does sound irritating. {Flips card} Whew! These next questions are a doozy. Would you want your favourite book to be made into a movie? Live action or animated? And who would you want to act in the movie?

{Moss}: {cHuCkLeS} Well, it's already sort of being made into a show! The Six of Crows characters, and part of their stories, are in the Netflix show adaptation of Shadow and Bone!! The first season was really fun to watch, though as usual the characters were portrayed a little different than I was imagining them in the book. {laughs} They were pretty close, though! As for a movie, I'd love it if Six of Crows got its own!

{Dawn}: I believe that wraps up our interview. Thanks for chatting with me, Moss! {Grins}

{Moss}: Thanks, Dawn!! It was great to talk with you!

Violent nightmares jerked me awake from my slumber. I opened my eyes to a dark, blurry scene, wondering where I was. Steel bars surrounded me, and I sat up and looked around. It was her. The one that caused this mess. The one who'd taken away everyone I loved. Violet.

You looked at me with such a sweet smile, one that made my frail heart flutter. I was always so happy when I was with you, a feeling I’ve barely felt before. Our hearts truly beat as one, so of course I wanted to have it for myself. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to beat anymore.

I used to play with toy ships in my bathtub, pretending I was a great storm that the captain would always overcome. Apparently, I couldn’t play the captain as well as I wanted to.

He could choose his own destiny, the life he wanted, for it was in his hands. The clone would have the same thought process, yes?

Dribble, 50 words:
I chased frantically after the figure. My heart was pounding and my breath was failing, but my eyes stayed on the target. As I raced through the hallways, my target slipped on the floor. This was my chance! I sprinted to him and touched his jacket. “You're it!” I screamed.

Six-Word-Story
An empty bed. An angry ghost.

Drabble, 107 words:
My dry empty throat yearned for water as I crawled across the sand. Just the thought of fresh, cold water made my throat feel drier. The cruel hot sun burned my skin, causing small droplets of sweat to form on my face and crawl their way down my forehead. My heavy arms were about to give away. Finally, I stopped moving and collapsed fully on the sand. I just lay there with my eyes closed and let the sun roast me up. To turn me into one of its roasted meat. Later, I opened my eyes and found an arm handing me a cup. Was that water?

The fire whispers to her. It calls out, sparks flying like desperate hands. She absentmindedly brushes a palm through the tips of the delicate flames and is left unburned. She knows the secrets; she knows that the true inferno is smaller than it appears.
She imagines this fire as her best friend. The illusion of consuming everything around it, when it can only wheeze and sputter as it feeds on firewood, seems fitting.
There is a bucket of water next to her and she kicks it over with a spiteful heel. She turns her back as the flames are smothered, hissing until they fizzle out and leave charcoal with only memories of warmth.

The house down the street across from the library with the peach tree is empty. There used to be an old woman living there, and before her there was a young woman living there, and before her was a little girl and her father. The old woman promised to pass it down to her children someday.
The house down the street is empty.

There’s a crack, and a gasp, and suddenly I feel myself falling. And yet, as I brace myself for the impact of hitting the water with my eyes shut tight, nothing happens. Everything is still.
I open my eyes ever so slightly.
The tree is suspended in midair - or rather, I suppose I am. I swipe and kick at the air around me, but find I can’t move even an inch.
The dark abyss of the water below me circles my dangling feet as if waiting for me to fall. I do not. I let out an uneasy laugh, knowing that although I may be safe from the water, I am not safe. Will I be stuck here forever?
Then there’s a flash so bright that I feel my eyes fail me, and everything goes dark.
I open my eyes, and I’m somewhere new.

Word War with @x_Rosemary_x
With all errors (267 words):
Bagliora ran through a field, wind flying through her fur. She looked to her right, where she saw Paulina, who’s pink trail was zooming behind her as she used her intense speed powers. She wondered where walnut was, but she was more focused on the plant life around her, which was whispering curiously about the group exploring the area. She flexed her paws a bit, and slowed to a stop, a flower growing underneath her at an acceptable rate, pushing her into the air so she could see her surroundings. She awed at the Miles of field, and then saw Walnut, who was very far away, probably talking to the wisps inside his wispon. She looked back at where she had last seen Paulina, before noticing her talking to some flowers. Curious, she spun her tails, begging to fly over to her hedgehog friend. She then saw a storm beginning to come towards them, nervously sweating. She liked rain, and the cool, wet, feeling, but thunder and lightning scared her a lot. She took a deep breath, and continued, landing next to Paulina. “Oh, hi!” Paulina chirped, grinning as she looked at Bagi. “How’s it going? “ “good, but I’m a little worrried…” Bagi replied, looking back up at the storm. “I just don’t want to get struck by light I….” “Don’t worry! I’m a literal lightning rod, I can drive it away!” “Thanks…but what about Walnut! He’s super far away…” “oh, I can handle that!” In a flash, Paulina was gone, soon coming back with their wolf friend, who was very confused, but also used to (end)

Completed, without errors (364 words):
Bagliora ran through a field, wind rushing through her fur. She looked to her right, where she saw Paulina, whose pink trail was zooming behind her as she used her intense speed powers. She wondered where Walnut was in the back of her mind, but she was more focused on the plant life around her, which was whispering curiously about the trio exploring the area. Bagi flexed her paws a bit, and slowed to a stop, a massive flower growing underneath her at an accelerated rate, pushing her into the air so that she could see her surroundings. She awed at the miles of field, and then saw Walnut, who was very far away, probably talking to the wisps inside his wispon. In a flash, a yellow drill of energy came out of Walnut’s wispon, and he began digging into the ground, Paulina and Bagliora staring. Within a few minutes, the group had a small cave to hide out the storm in, and they all curled up and fell asleep inside.

+400 point for mystery 376 words in the English, which is what I wrote it in.

Constellation: Columba
Meaning: The Dove (latin for dove)
——————-
Original (Latin)
Columba fuit quondam, quae dies suos in nubibus lapsae peregit. Oh, erant ceterae aves, sed haec erat specialis columba. Eadem ab hominibus et iumentis admirata est. Vixit in regno regis a generoso rege, qui nihil faceret ad suam gentem tutandam. Ceterae vero aves columbam spreverunt. Cecidit in soporem per dies X. * illa in quiete se reciperet, aves crudeles coronam regis surripere volebant, tunc evigilans columbam vituperabat. Volitante columba dum sibi ridet, rex sagittam suam intendit.

Translation (English)
There was once a dove, who spent her days soaring in the clouds. Oh, there was all the other birds, but this dove was special. She was admired by humans and animals the same. She lived in a kingdom ruled by a generous king, who would do anything to protect his nation. The other birds, however, despised the dove. They thought that she was full of herself and was appreciated too much among the kingdom. Therefore, on one bright morning, they plotted a plan to kill the king, so that the king's cruel son would become the new ruler. By afternoon, the king was dead, murdered brutally. The new king rose to power, and the nation changed almost immediately. It became bleary and dark, and if the king's orders were not followed, you wouldn't see the light of day again. The dove was devastated. She fell into a deep slumber for 10 days. While she was in her rest, the cruel birds planned to steal the king's crown, then blame it on the dove when she awoke. On the 9th night before the dove woke up, they stole the crown at the strike of midnight. The king woke up to no crown, and immediately demanded that everyone tell what information they knew. The selfish birds blamed it on the dove, who has just awoken out of her trance. The dove denied the claim frantically, begging for the king to believe her, but he made sure she would never see the light of day again. At twilight that day, the king's servant lured the dove to the king with a piece of fresh bread. As the dove fluttered and fluttered while laughing to herself, the king aimed his arrow at her. The lively laughter from the dove ceased to exist. She was struck, and she gracefully fell down to the ground, as if she were a piece of torn paper, still oh so light. The dove was dead. Oh, and once she entered a place that is unknown to the best of us, the higher being felt sympathy for her, and her spirit was placed in the sky, so she could bless everyone with her kindness, forever. That is the story of Columba, the dove.

DAILY 9 - 304 WORDS
Lupus, a constellation said to resemble a wolf. But, why is it in the sky? Well, It started off with Minnie May, famously known as Mima. She one day decided as a 3 year old that going into the deadly Kimboppy forest in Dora, Explora, her birthplace, was a GREAT idea. She ventured in the depths of the forest, her parents not realizing, as it was midnight and they were off to sleep. In the forest, Mima heard something. She shivered with fear, tightening her grip on her panda plushie. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She wanted her mom. She saw a figure approach. She closed her eyes, not wanting to look at the horrid figure. But she took a peek, and saw it was a baby wolf! Being the three year old she was, she happily brought it home, and gave it some water. Her parents grew fond of the wolf. They soon talked to it, introduced the wolf to others, and plenty more. Years passed, and Mima was the super mature age of 5. She claimed she was now old enough to light the stove, cook food, walk to school herself, and get her own goat. She didn’t get any of that. Mima still, though, brought the unnamed wolf wherever she wandered, and always brought it to school on show and tell day. But one day, Mima realized that the wolf was missing the forest. She had her mom cook some rice and beans, and put it in a little cloth bag. She handed it to the wolf, and pointed to the forest. The wolf cuddled Mima, and set off. The next week, a wolf constellation was in the sky. And Mima knew exactly who that was supposed to be. Her wolf. Her big gray wolf was in the sky.

Dyssy makes a return! (See weekly one)

When you stare at the night sky, have you ever found the constellation Pavo? Probably not. And there's a reason for that. In fact, I have a story to tell…

Pavo always had to be the best-looking. He would spend all day preening and admiring himself. “I'm the best-looking peacock in the whole universe!” He would say to his reflection in the pond with a smug smile.
Now, there was a celestial being named Dyssy. She would look down on Pavo from her place in the Realm and frown at his arrogance. *He needs to be taught a lesson.*
One day, Dyssy disguised herself as a beautiful peahen and approached Pavo. Pavo instantly wanted her for himself. *If I'm the best-looking peacock in the world, then I deserve to have the most beautiful peahen as my mate.* He reasoned. Spreading his tail feathers in a fan of shimmering blue and green, he approached her. Dyssy spotted him coming and pretended to ignore him. After a few minutes of this, Pavo got annoyed. “Can't you see me?” He yelled at her. “I'm the best-looking peacock, just look!” He strained to spread his tail even wider.
Dyssy slowly turned to look at him. Her expression contained obvious boredom. “I've seen better.”
“What! Where?” Pavo raged with a slight whine in his voice, sounding like a toddler after being denied a second cookie.
“Oh, up there.” Dyssy vaguely gestured with her beak to the sky.
Pavo fumed. “I'm the best-looking. Not him!”
Breaking into a run and hopping a few times before stretching out his wings, Pavo took to the sky. He flapped furiously, already tiring but refusing to stop. He spiralled higher and higher until Dyssy could barely see him.
Dyssy transformed back into her normal, celestial self and returned to her realm. From there she could watch Pavo.
Once he reached space, Dyssy stepped out and approached him, seeming to walk on air.
“Who… are… you?” Pavo gasped.
“I am Dyssy. I've seen how arrogant you are and how you treat others. As punishment, I am banishing you to the stars, where you will not be easily seen.” She said sternly. With a flick of her wrist, Pavo dissolved into the twinkling of five stars.

From that point on, Pavo has been there. You can only spot him if you're actively searching for him.

Pisces is a constellation of the zodiac, and its name is Latin for “fishes”. Pisces is most commonly associated with the Scratch legend that there was once a hidden realm in Folklore Trails, where Luna and her twin Finn were trapped and swam out as fishes. The Flipflop-Breeze-Crimson-Zapalac family was on a trip in the Folklore Trails, hiking together, when Luna and Finn decided to hide from their parents and take a different trail. Faer, a Trail Leader of the Folklore Trails, punished the twins for their misbehavior by turning them into fish and trapping them in a river in the secret realm. However, Luna and Finn were clever twins, so they found a way out the river and realm, but ended up in the sky. There is also a theory that Gabbie was the ruler of the secret realm and freed Luna and Finn for money.

In Blue Cheese lore, many people thought Luna and Finn were gods and thought they were too good to just be normal human beings, so they lured them into the sky with Nights’ money and Finn’s salad. To do this, they had to trap Kenna and Nights in Vee’s basement. Apparently, you can persuade Kenna to go anywhere or do anything if you hold her precious soap hostage.

It is also said that two fish in the sky are Kenna and Nights, the parents of Luna and Finn. According to this tale, Kenna and Nights were never human, never furries, but fish all along. Surprisingly, Vee, a Trail Leader of the Folklore Trails, was the one who discovered this fact. It was a shock to most because of her constant claims of “Kenna and Nights are furries”. Bright decided to reward Vee for her discovery, and granted Vee one wish. Vee wished for Kenna and Nights to live in the sky as a constellation, and named the constellation Pisces.

Do I know what I hoped to accomplish by writing this? No. Do I now have a strange fascination with all-knowing clocks that I will probably add into the next thing I write? Yes.

Haha warning this kind of sucks

Daily November 9th (375 words)

Horologium is one of the most mysterious superconstellations in our sky. Its origins are mysterious, but I have several theories I will elaborate on in this short essay.
We all know what superconstellations are - constellations with special properties that can move, shift, and change from day to day and even have effects on our Earth. Some like Leo and Aries even cause mass destruction from time to time, as the moon’s existence itself proves.
Horologium is a sort of enigma, having no obvious effects on life as we know it but still bearing the energy of a superconstellation. In astrologers’ books it is often noted in the footnotes as a sort of obligatory mention. It seems rather lame in comparison to the other impressive features in our sky.
I myself am enamored with its grandeur. It has been described as “like the hands of a clock”, and as such given the name Horologium - that is clock in latin, if you were unaware. A bit on the nose, don’t you think? But I suppose that is what latin translations are for.
Anyway, this leads to several theories that can be found in obscure internet forums. Some of my favorites are “one day it will make every clock in the world explode and then we’ll just lose track of time” and “it proves that clocks themselves are all-powerful beings we should probably worship”.
However, these theories are mainly jokes, as clarified by the original posters when questioned.
The main three theories I find truly interesting are as follows:
First, that the “clock” of Horologium is set to when the world as we know it will end, we simply do not know how to read it.
Second, that the clock moves so slowly that each tick is a universe’s lifespan and that when it finishes its “24-hour day” reality will collapse.
Third, Horologium messes with time without our knowledge, moving time in unnatural ways for everyone but itself. Evidence can be found for this one, so I suggest research goes forth in this direction presently.
I will be putting all of the effort and money I have into such projects and suggest that you, reader, do the same. If we can figure out how this magnificent constellation works…

I chose the constellation Lepus!

The Hare
The Lepus constellation—also known as “the hare” in Latin—lies in the northern sky. Its closest neighbor is Orion, the Hunter constellation.

Long ago, Lepus, the hare, roamed the Earth freely. For years, he lived in peace. Lepus enjoyed roaming the forest by day and sleeping against the cool ground by night. That night, he went to bed content, full from the berries he dug up earlier. Little did he know that danger was soon to come.

The next morning, Orion the Hunter arrived in the forest. Orion was well known for his power and brute strength. He was said to have hunted animals for their meat and fur. Lepus had always been told not to venture out of the forest, in fear of Orion’s wrath. But Orion had come to him, instead of the other way around. Lepus finally woke to the sound of snarling dogs, as their rough barking swept through the forest.

In an instant, Lepus leapt to his feet. Yet it was too late. Orion was already closing in on him, his muscular body loomed over him. Beside him were his hunting dogs, teeth bared in a vicious grin.

“My what a fine hare you are! You will be great for my collection!” Orion boomed. And with that, he scooped Lepus up and swept him away.

After his capture, nothing was ever heard of Lepus. Orion, along with his hare, disappeared that day - never to be seen.

No one knows what really happened to the hunter and his captive. But if you look closely at the night sky, you will find a bright outline of a man holding a bow. And right below this man, lies the hare. Some say that the reason why Lepus is below Orion is because he was captured and hunted.

I, however, don’t believe that.

I don’t believe Lepus truly vanished. His body may be gone, but his spirit survives even to this day. It continues to shine in the night sky right alongside the great hunter Orion.

Daily #10 (432 words)
Pisces, one of the 12 star signs, is known to many as the star sign assigned if born in the range of February 19th to March 20th. Northeast of the Aquarius constellation, the previous star sign, and northwest of Cetus, a sea monster, there is a connection between them all if you choose to dig deeper.
There was once two servants of Poseidon's castle. They were twins and were somewhat close but they differed in one major aspect. The older twin longed to see the rest of the large, wide sea while the younger twin was content with what they had and admired the king of the sea. Of course, none of them could do anything about it until something strange happened. The older twin tried to escape the castle before being found by one of Poseidon's daughters. However, she was kind and she didn't get the twin in trouble. Instead, she tasked them and their younger sibling to work together to take care of her two pet fish. A strange task but if they could keep them for 3 days, the princess would let each of them have a wish.
Eager to succeed, the older twin went back to their younger and told them of the task the sea princess gave. The younger sibling was overjoyed, and they pledged to work together to keep the fish alive. For the first day, it went well and the fish were doing okay. But during the second to last day, one of the fish escaped under the older twin's watch. The younger twin was obviously furious and yelled at the older twin for being so careless. The older twin tried to defend themself and seemingly tried to make an excuse about how the fish suddenly disappeared. The younger sibling wouldn't have it and they went to find the fish and was successful. On the last day, the younger twin decided to watch out for the fish but was appalled when the fish disappeared.
Again, the two siblings fought and found the fish. When the princess came, they thought that they would be able to receive their wishes but the princess told them no. The task, she explained, was to work together to take care of the pet fish and they had failed. Because of this, the princess decided to give them a lesson. They would be taken away from the sea into the stars, tied together, and transformed into the animals they were supposed to take care of. Eternally with each other, always pulling away from each other, until the day they'd be freed.

╔══ ≪ daily ten ≫ ══╗

Lyra, a constellation primarily known for its brightest star, Vega, holds a great number of mysterious mythologies behind it. Most, if not all, are centred around music, as ‘lyra’ is a name of Greek origin that means lyre. A lyre is a stringed instrument like a harp, and it was commonly used in Ancient Greece. This is where Lyra's story begins.

Lyra was a simple peasant in a grand city, where patrician houses were often marked with gold and horses and chariots were not an uncommon sight. Her house was one of the few that were not grand townhouses: instead, she lived rather simply in a wooden hut at the very outskirts of the city. Scurrying by the main street holding baskets of food (her job was to deliver takeaways, a distinctly slow and boring process), her eyes often roamed to the shop windows, where delicacies of all types were displayed – flowers in romantic bunches, dresses stitched painstakingly with a million different threads, three-tier cakes with plates of meat organised around them – and she was always taken aback by what the rich could afford. She made it her goal to try on those dresses, to purchase those flowers, to bite into that cake and ravenously take all the meat, too. That was where her ambition started, and where it would have ended, too, if not for the lyre.

On one excursion, when she was carrying fish and sauce, the most glorious sound she had ever heard wound its way through the streets towards her. It sounded like streams babbling down hillsides, the whisper of leaves against each other, the ringing of laughter, and she at once gathered up her baskets and ran towards it. The music took her down winding streets where the houses grew so close it was suffocating, and then out into an alleyway she'd never noticed before. A cloaked figure was sitting cross-legged on top of a wall, and when she appeared, he tossed the thing that was in his hands towards her.
“There you go, darling,” he said, “It's your namesake.”
With that, he got up and bolted away.

Lyra had dropped her goods when she had caught the lyre, and now she inspected it, turning it over before running her fingers lightly over the strings. A hum rose from the instrument. Trying again, she plucked the first string, and that same honey-stream-laughter-leaf noise was heard. She jumped excitedly and scurried away, ignoring the remnants of food on the ground.

Lyra practiced painstakingly, devoting her life to the art of the lyre, and soon she was known as the fourth-best musician in the land. She would stroll through the streets, rubbing the back of her hands against the strings, and people would turn, jump and clap. Affording cakes was no problem: she could afford anything that she asked for. The only problem was that she didn't want to stop at being fourth-best – she hid away in her house and practiced to become better.

One day, she heard a sharp rapping on the door.
“Go away!” she cried lazily, trotting to the door and yanking it open with a thud. “Can't you hear – I'm working –”
The cloaked man was at the door.
“Good evening, missus.” he said, and deftly plucked the lyre from her hands. “I'll be taking this.”

Lyra sank to the ground, astonished. Her lyre – her precious lyre – the only lyre she could ever play music on – and it was gone. In despair, she asked and pleaded to be turned into a group of stars, where she could watch over the earth and find the cloaked man and her lyre. Her wish came true, and that is where she sits to this day: in the sky, searching for her treasured instrument that can never be found.

This is why the constellation is called Lyra, and why it contains the fourth-brightest star in the universe as we know it.

daily #10 whoooo

Ophiuchus, a beautifully large constellation is symbolized by a man holding a serpent. By some people, this amazing and mysterious constellation, seen in mostly the southern sky from mainly May to October in the evening, is also believed that Ophiuchus is the 13th zodiac, while some astronomers or people interested in stars and constellations may beg to differ, it is a matter of opinion, that does not lessen the beauty of this constellation!

How is came to begin is a sort of mystery, all known is that long ago a man claimed to have a creature unknown to mankind at that point of time, the serpent. He told tales of this creature with the ability to zip itself from one place to another in a second, just to bite its prey, it has the ability to slither slyly and wrap the victim to a tree till death. Most people claimed this to be a lie, as the serpent bearer had never shown anyone any sort of proof of the existence of the serpent. Those who believed his tales at first had grown bored of his stories, and pleaded to see this beastly yet magnificent creatures with their own eyes, but the old serpent bearer claimed it too dangerous to be shown. Over time the serpent bearer had been ousted of the area, and banned from returning. People believed his tale to be a myth, possible a story to scare kids into returning home on time.

Years later, at about midnight people heard the sound of a flute, a beautiful tune being played. Amused, people went out to see this talented musician with their own eyes, as they saw a man, a very old one, and a giant serpent dancing to his tunes. Screams filled the air, drowning the flute music and releasing the serpent from its hypnotic state into one of anger. All the people could remember was the serpent bearer grabbing the snake by the neck, and fighting it.

This is how, it is believed, the constellation came to exist.
