The Clean up button
Why does the clean-up button put the blocks in a straight line? I've just been wondering since 2.0

I guess the definition for clean-up blocks would be to organize them for Scratch. Just my guess though

I think a scratch team member said that they wanted it to look like text-based coding by putting the blocks in a straight line.

It can make scripts significantly easier to find. Instead of having to scroll all around the code area (including left and right), you’d just have to scroll up and down.
It makes it less likely for you to miss the script that you’re looking for, and definitely makes it a lot less time-consuming and annoying.

Hmm …. I think clean-up block is supposed to organize other blocks.

If I recall correctly, this is actually not fully intentional (the library which Scratch's blocks are based on, Blockly, wants to improve it, and the Scratch Team is also aware of the issue).
