on the old website commercials never came up, but on 2.0 there are lots of commercials. is it suppose to be like that or is there something wrong with my browser?

Check your installed browser extensions, and run an antivirus program. The site does not have (and will never have) advertisements on it.

Scan your computer or see if any of your extensions, if any, put adds in.
I would recommend scanning but while you wait, you can get the Google Chrome extension adblock. It works great.

If you have this thing called Sweetpacks extension, uninstall it immediately. It's not a virus, it's just REALLY annoying. I don't even know how it got on my computer.
If when you start your browser you find this: You have Sweetpacks.

There are no ads on this website. It may be a problem with your computer having adware. To remove it, you might want to use antivirus and anti-malware programs to scan, and remove all unnecessary toolbars on the web browser.

There are no ads from Scratch, I know that from experience, and what I just previously read.
As said above, you probably have Adware, which is a kind of virus that runs advertisements in places where they aren't normally. Other then that, I don't think it's that harmful (Though, don't take my word for it, I don't know much about Adware.) but Adware can be really rough on your computer, so I'd remove it as quickly as possible. Run a virus scan, wait for it to fully scan. If it gives you an option between a quick scan and a full, pick full.
