new way to make emojis more accessible

we all know to use emojis you have to type _(name)_. but many users dont know this and dont even know the names of the emojis or that emojis even exist on the site.

i propose that a feature be added similar to a familiar chat site, that when you hover over any emoji in a comment, a tooltip displays above the emoji, such as this very bad mockup.

pros: more users will know how to use emojis
easier to credit people if scratch wants to add more meme emojis (such as my trollface suggestion or the illuminati triangle)

cons: more users knowing about the emojis could possibly cause more spam.

lemme know what you thnk.

What's that convenient emoji-looking button you have in your screenshot? Is that from a browser extension? Is that a button that lets you simply select your emoji that you want to use (including _apple_)? If so, I would think that's a more direct/straightforward way of showing users how to use emojis. Credits could also appear when you hover over an emoji listed in the dropdown of that button, too.

This would be helpful, as many time's I've seen comments where users keep trying to get the emoji correct and failing, and it would be easier if they could just hover over the emojis.

It is indeed from an extension, but not many users have it and while the extension does show the wording of the emoji when you hover over, it does not provide credits and the tooltip is quite bland as it is whatever your browser uses when you hover over something.

I used inspect to edit the title and this is what the extension would look like if it had credits

not that fitting tbh, and i feel that if my (very trash) mockup shown in the OP was put in it (except looking much better ofc) would fit the style of scratch much better.

Support for making the extension a part of vanilla Scratch. Extensions aren't allowed to be shared and this perfectly solves the problem of people not knowing the emojis exist.

This should also happen if you tap the emoji, so mobile users can figure it out as well. Tooltips don't work on mobile devices.
