Before the sudden change, the Explore page would be for each language different. The worst thing is that Scratch Team didn't notify anyone (to my knowledge) about this change. Can I know why was this change made and why we didn't get notified about it?

I don't think it is… there are differences between the languages, e.g. in the order of the projects. I don't think the first update after a month break is in any way representative of the way things will work going forwards. I'd wait for another couple of updates to see how things look after that.

I don't see why this is bad. location shouldn't be a separator when it comes to sharing projects and giving people who deserve it fame.

But now it's harder for new users to show their projects to other people when most of them on the top are Japanese animations.
Explore page was also used by a lot of people to find new good projects in their languages, but now it's gone.

English Scratchers: half of the project on trending are in another language.

Non-english and non-japanese Scratchers: can't understand a single word from trending projects

Scratcher from country with less Scratchers (like france): Their projects won't have the chance to be seen by other Scratchers speaking the same language. Example : I know that there was a strong french community in the french trending and I’m pretty sure that it was the same with pretty much every other language. But these communities won’t exist anymore and are going to be destroyed by more popular languages


I don't think the ST meant to changes trending from local to global. I think this is actually a bug introduced with the latest update to the explore page. I'm pretty sure that it's going to be fixed soon.

I think this might have been an intentional change, because of the old Explore indexer possibly having to actually index several dozen or more Explore pages at once, one for each language, and that slowing down all pages at once and possibly even being the direct cause of the great Explore page stop of [idk the date].
