Having trouble backpacking things?
A number of users have been reporting getting an error loading the backpack if they try to add something. This is the backpack equivalent to another issue that was basically the same thing when you try to save projects – the editor would throw an error that the project couldn't be saved.
The backpack error happened to me with the Meow sound repeated until it was over 8 seconds.
This seems to be affecting everyone by the number of bug reports, so let's keep discussing this here.
This isn't a combined space limit or caused by what's already in your backpack, either. It's all in the stuff you're trying to add to it.
Don't worry about the rest of your backpack, it's totally fine. Just close and reopen it and everything will still be there.
What's going on back there? Last time I tested this, anything over about 785 KB would cause these errors:
You can check the console in your browser's developer tools if you want to find out what the error is now.
Oh no, that messed up my plan! What do I do? If you can do so on your computer, just right click and export anything you need to download so you can carry them over to another place without the backpack. They can be imported by selecting the Upload option in the add dropdowns.
When will this be fixed? When the Scratch Team gets a chance. If this is happening now, just wait a few weeks while they catch up.

I wonder how long before this gets stickied…
First I guess
Also, backpacking each asset at a time can be useful, as long as you only have a few assets. If you have more, then, like you said, downloading them and uploading them back into it is the best option.

What is your device? Mobile? In that case hold your finger down and wait until the display pops up. Then press export. This might work, but I can’t guarantee Yeah but what about people that don't have a PC.

Same. I can backpack costumes and backdrops just fine, but not audio or sprites. I’ve tried refreshing, shutting down my computer, cutting up the audio into little pieces then backpacking all those, backpacking it on a different device, and switching browsers but nothing’s working.
