How should scratch deal with mass reporting?

we all get it, mass reporting is a big deal, though I think sometimes it's uncanny how scratch can't pick up that a user is being reported by a team of people trying to get the project/ account taken down
when [ report button] key pressed

Mass reporting is automated. If someone is false mass reported the project will be put back up. No user can get banned or muted because of false mass reporting.

Say that to my alt account, I dare you

It would probably be hard to automatically tell if a project was getting mass reported because people don't like or if it actually breaks the rules, which is why moderators exist to review the project after it gets taken down.

Right, the Scratch Team reviews the reports after a project is automatically taken down.

Not all “mass reported” projects are a result of organized groups trying to take down the project. Many cases are those in which individual Scratchers report the project because they truly do think that the project is inappropriate.

False, you can get banned, however, only temporarily.

Or 1 person makes 4 or how many reports you need accounts to false report something. Remember when Chiroyce was targeted?
I think scratch should have a reputation system for reporting/being reported. And a project/something else with more views needs more reports.

False, you can get banned, however, only temporarily.
I've actually got temporarily banned once for false reporting, but the ST reviewed the project in question and said it was fine. But the point is you can get banned due to false reporting.

Of course, I believe only like three people reported my project. Sometimes projects get a whole bunch of people to either report them or ‘false’ report them, and then the situation gets even more complicated.

That's not possible. The system is built so that only one report from a user counts towards “mass reporting.” So nobody can actually get a project automatically removed by themselves.

What makes you think these aren't already in place? I don't know if they are, but regardless of whether or not they are, I don't think “mass reporting” would be completely solved by these guidelines.

That, and the fact that I'm pretty sure there may even be a system in place to prevent some rotten apple from making alternate accounts to “mass report” a project.

Indeedy there is.

Of what may need some constant tweaking is the trigger limit. During COVID the website activity rose by about 6x, and so the older limits were too low. So the limits were adjusted accordingly with reputation metrics attached. But as the website continues to grow, they will likely have to be adjusted again over time. It's a weird game of cat-and-mouse.

There is the lingering the issue of projects that are justified in being reported but fall under NFE status, such that NFE stuff is more prone to get taken down via mass reporting. But that ties in with some other backend stuff whose updates are pending. Of which the only advice I can give on that right now is for people to be more mindful of what they post, and that NFE projects are not really worth it in the end if one's goal is to gain better stats since NFE is ineligible for the front page and searchability anyway.

the ST doesnt and doesnt have to mass report someone.
if they reaaaally wanted to, they can outright ban you (not that they will)
someone else mass reported you and the bot temp banned you
the ST should review and unban ur project (unless it did break the guidlines)
