I was wondering if games of the horror genre could be coded and posted here. Obviously nothing of excessive gore or anything like that but just horror in the sense of just being in a creepy atmosphere. I want to ask now before I actually code the game and post it and have it taken down or something.

Most horror isn't allowed, but there are some lesser aspects of horror that are still allowed.

Excessive violence, blood, jumpscares, disturbing elements, and gore aren't allowed in horror games (or anything at all on the site). Warnings or having a setting to turn them off will still get your project taken down.

Low levels of spookiness are fine, like Luigi's Mansion, as Za-Chary stated here.

The specific type of horror that you're talking about, a creepy atmosphere, might be allowed though. If you're going for a Luigi's Mansion-like spooky atmosphere, it would definitely be allowed. Psychological horror would also be somewhat allowed as well, but don't go too far with it. Something like a mostly silent, dark forest with occasional rustling in bushes would likely be allowed, but not a dungeon with faint screaming sounds.

No, the post before yours was correct. Additionally, I’ve seen creepy images that fit the description you provided. And violence is okay as long as it is cartoon violence.

I suppose so, as long as it’s not used for a jumpscare or anything, but that still doesn’t make your post correct. They do indeed allow more family-friendly horror than that, and cartoon violence is okay. I hope this helps you understand what confused you.
