Why is the scratch team taking down forum posts that talk about the comment glitch?

Scratch has been dustbinning posts that discuss the comment shutdown yesterday, why is that?

Yeah, but they also have been hiding replies to tweets on twitter.

Because they're ashamed of it?

That's pretty much it, so far as I know.

As for why topics were removed - posting a security issue on a public forum is not a good idea as it encourages others to take advantage of it. Please use Contact Us or another private channel to let the Scratch Team know in the future.

If we consider the different things this could've disrupted, scratchers deserve to know what happened. Even if it is just something as simple as “the filter temporarily stopped working during a glitch, and we had to quickly close comments to get it back and working again.”

I think it would’ve been better if you didn’t remove the context from that quote.

As said above, if they removed them while it was happening, it's to keep people from spreading the knowledge about the glitch. So, less damage would happen.

So they are trying to save their reputation?

No, I think it's more like “The more that people know about the filterbot being broken, the more people that will just try to ‘test’ out it being broken.” This leads to more chaos and trouble throughout the website.

^That would be it.

People have created many posts about this topic, and the question has already been answered several times.

If that's the reason (which I kind of doubt), that would be a bad idea. For one thing, it would completely break the Scratch Wiki article about it, and it would be harder to find reliable information about what happened in the future.
I know that's not a huge deal, but it seems pointless.

^ This would be the better answer.
