What Happens When Scratch Runs Out of Project ID's
Scratch is good and it is a coding platform for more people. but have you ever thought the more people the more projects, the more projects the fewer IDs, the fewer projects, the fewer projects the less coding, the less coding the less joining? its the same with forums posts and usernames
It goes with lots of other websites like youtube, google, Roblox, and more
And the numbers will keep going up through the years until the numbers stop.
What will happen?
Platforms like Roblox shut down their site. and delete users that have been inactive for over 2 years soo that's what I was thinking…
soon users will have no choice to put their name in iqwopueeouw3wiueqw like they don't like.

What Happens When Scratch Runs Out of Project ID's
Scratch will not run out of project IDs. They will continue increasing to infinity. Also, the number of usernames possible is huge. Each character can be a-z, 0-9, -, or _. This gives 38 choices. Now do 38^5. That's 79235168. About 80 million possible five letter usernames exist. So no, scratch will never run out of usernames either.

Did you know, the bigger the URL the more your computer can crash just like google when you search up something with a lot of words it crashes soon scratch will not be used as we know it, and are we doing ratio math or to the power of algebra? the bigger the project the bigger the crash the more numbers the more crashing the fewer projects, also projects don't go in 1, 2, 3 there just generated numbers so they don't keep going up
yes, usernames will still exist but what I said is once every username is taken up just like Roblox, people will put their username in ruwreuiyrqre or have no choice to copy a useable username by replacing I with i

Even if the amount of projects somehow reached something like 100 digits, any browser would still be able to run Scratch perfectly fine.

Project numbers are made in order, so if someone made the one billionth project, the project after that would be 1 billion and 1. So no. The project numbers will not get out of hand. Ever.

And usernames will not be a problem in the foreseeable future. As of 2020, Gmail had 1.8 billion users. That is an absolutely massive number compared to scratch's 90 million, and Gmail doesn't seem to be having problems with email addresses (AKA usernames), do they?

What Happens When Scratch Runs Out of Project ID's
Let us suppose that 100 projects were created per second. For simplicity, let's start at project ID 1. Now wait about 100 years.
The project IDs would only be up to around 315,360,000,000, which is hardly larger than most Google links that I've visited lately.
Similar math suggests the same for usernames, as there are around 40 nonillion possible usernames, from earlier calculations, and so within 100 years we would barely make a dent in the amount of possible usernames.
Therefore, I don't think this is anything to worry about.

What Happens When Scratch Runs Out of Project ID's
I have a decent laptop, not a very powerful one, and it doesn't crash. For Example Copy and paste and search this on google -crashed huh?that's your school chromebook not google

??? try this you probably got a powerful gaming pc
It's just that your computer is very weak.
If there are 40 nonillion possible usernames, and 3 million accounts are created each month (that's the record, set in July 2019), it would take 13,333,333,000,000,000,000,000,000 months or 1,111,111,100,000,000,000,000,000 (1 septillion, 111 sextillion, 111 quintillion, 100 quadrillion) years.
We'd probably be extinct by then.

Yes, there is a limit.
Yes, we can run out.
No, we're not going to.
Scratch is not nearly that popular. It's like learning the sun is going to explode in a few billion years and stressing “Oh no! What are we going to do? Our sun's going to explode! We don't have that much time!”

Yeah, I was thinking too small. That… is an awesome example.Yes, there is a limit. You are thinking too small, and it's also not necessarily true; Scratch has more active users than Wikipedia. Scratch can be used by an entire galaxy with billions of planets each with billions of people for a billion years and we'd still get nowhere near any hypothetical limit.

computers are amazing :o
