Why are we allowed to like/favorite our own proejcts?

Is there a reason why we are able to like/star, and favorite our own projects? Seems like something you would do for a self promotional act. Like, you would already have the project stored in your shared projects list, so why would you need it again in your favorites list? Usually the goal is to earn those points from other people who follow your projects. But if you are liking/favoriting your own projects, you're just giving those points to yourself. Doesn't seem to make sense in your own point of view, but maybe they have their reasons? What other reason could there be to like/favorite your own project other than having a duplicate in your favorites?

If I made the Scratch website, I wouldn't even bother making it so that you couldn't like or favorite your own projects because it just seems like something so trivial. So I suppose that the ST is lazy (and I am too). I've seen other sites where you can like your own post but this doesn't really matter.

through tough thorough thought, though

I suppose the possibility of being able to favourite your own projects to be useful to create something like a ‘my best content’ row on your profile page.

Nothing here.

I would say it's because some people have zero attention, and some projects only have the love and fav from the owner/creator of the project. Maybe it's just to make them feel a bit better(that's a horrible explanation)

But also it very well might be that the ST was simply lazy(like we all are) and when they created Scratch they didn't bother to mess with changing it so you can't love and fav your own projects. After all, no harm was being done

Alright, that's fair enough. Just seems weird to like/favorite your own project for the points though, when the intent is to earn the trust of your followers.

There are several reasons why it is a good thing you can do that. For example, if you really like the project you created, you would be able to love and favorite it. If you wanted to alert people of a project you made a while ago, but don't want to reshare it, you can love it again.

Here's Za-Chary's comment on this from an older thread asking the same question.

I love and favorite my own projects for two reasons.

(1) Harmless advertising. When I love and favorite my own projects, my followers see that in their “What's Happening” section on the front page, and in the “What I've Been Doing” section on my profile, so those who may have initially missed the project now have an opportunity to see it again.

(2) Self-confidence. I don't love and favorite every project, and I certainly don't love and favorite all of my own projects. If I manage to love and favorite my own project, then I have successfully convinced myself that it is actually a good project.
