Crimson Operating/Rendering Emulator - Horizons Solutions
No longer accepting anybody as of Dec. 29, 2021
Hello! Welcome to the CORE Computer collab page. While this may seem like some boring computer, we are actually making a computer. Well, not really, but more of an emulator that is completely programmable. We want to get a mainly CLI (command line interface) version of it done (no GUI) by December 31st (at 20:00 EST) and we'll call it Generation 1. If you are a programmer, we want you! We don't need artists right now, but we can use people like you in the future. And just a quick note: you don't have to fill out anything (including the Horizons Resume), just tell me how you can help in this forum. Accepting programmers and designers (again, not art designers, but program designers)
(Was originally VERTEX)
First programmable build with p (print text) and r (run file)!! VERTEX2120, released 12/02/2021 (a palindrome date)
Actual Latest Build: CORE2137 NOTE: does not work well
Here are some notes that I have if you're interested:
How Vertex Operates (kind of) by me980872 from 11272021
Commands:
f- file (starts a file)
p- print (follows text)
r- run file
EXAMPLE:
f
example
crps
p
I am now going to run a file.
r
prog1
—-
More commands: ones that havent been added yet:
c - control (NOTE: there are more things to be added here)
r (repeat) repeats something many times
# (insert number here: e,g. 10)
f (runs file forever)
i- input
a (answer) (comes before the answer)
EXAMPLE:
c
r
f
i
Insert question here
a
Yes
You were right
a
No
You were wrong
———-
Here's the disk files from a beta version of VERTEX (2116)
DISK
=vertexdata
f
boot
crps
r
prog1
f

crps
p
Test. this is a test

So in an outline version, basically…
1. Info
This is a disk
It's also a vertex data file
2. Data
-File (f)
—-Name (boot)
—-File type (crps)
—-Command ( r )
—-File to run (prog1)
-File (f)
—-Name (prog1)
—-File type (crps)
—-Command (p)
—-Text to print (test. This is a test.)
3. End of script
—
P.S. I'm completely open to insane ideas and major changes. Just not ones that would change the entire base of the project.

so is this like a virtual computer, like an actual, fully emulated CPU?

Well, we're not doing an actual CPU (probably going to save that for later generations) but it's more of a programming language right now. (Also, nice profile picture. I love Calvin and Hobbes)
