By the way, you don't need to use Proxmox as a server, you can put Proxmox on internal storage and output it to a display while still being used as a server. if I had a device to use AS a server i'd be using that
but i dont
i only have 1 working machine rn

Should I replace Windows with Ubuntu, dualboot or stay on Windows? I've already got the live CD (or USB) working and already booted from it a couple weeks ago, but didn't click install.

(#671)I'd recommend dual booting, then if you realise you need to do something on the other OS you can easily switch back.

If you have a small SSD, back up your entire SSD to a USB drive using dd. That way you'll have a backup of Windows, but you'll have your entire SSD available to use. The problem is Windows is on an insider build and apparently Windows update sometimes messes up Linux. I don't feel like reinstalling Windows on top of it, but I can if I have to. I'd recommend dual booting, then if you realise you need to do something on the other OS you can easily switch back.

It's 256GB (roughly half used). I have both a large USB and external hard drive which I got recently. I've got some data on both, but I'm slowly migrating all my important stuff to the external drive, so the USB should be free.If you have a small SSD, back up your entire SSD to a USB drive using dd.
