It doesn't necessarily need to be on all the time. I've gotten it working on laptops before.

proxmox is a distro/ software that you install like an OS, this is a dying HDD here

also its a web application hosted, might as well use vbox if ur using it on the machine you use.
once my PC is fixed I might turn this old beast into a server

In terms of what? The animations are fluid and window management is fluid. That's the most to expect from type-2.
