Opacity?
I do have enough experience with Bitmap images to know that it takes a human brain to distinguish backgrounds on a picture, and that a computer won't be able to sort it out.
No, it was here before Scratch 2.0, they removed it with the new version, and it is one of the most used feature in GIMP.
When you do an image search with Google, select the “transparent” option (I think it's the same name in English, cause I don't use Google in English)
and you will see what I mean…
Example:
Alpha channel
Hmm. I see. I assume it doesn't work with major pixel distortion? What about a snapshot of a TV show? How about a photo of a real-life object?

I'd use Paint.NET. Thats what I use.
Yes, Paint or Gift, but it have to be a embedded feature, as before.
Not everybody can use this software.
They wanted to improve the Scratch paint editor, but they spoiled it in my opinion, very buggy, and with important missing feature.

There are two things I'd like to address about this.
The first one is that the vector editor will not allow the selection and use of a partially transparent color. Here's something I'd like to see.

This tool should be able to pick up transparent colors, so shapes could have transparent qualities without the use of gradients.
The second one? The advanced color selector should have another slider next to the value slider, controlling transparency.
It would look like this.
.
If you're reading this, thanks.

It is necroposting but this is semi-relevant (as trasparency is supported in uploads of vector pictures but not in pictures made in the vector editor), At least as far as i know.Oops.
