Incorrect Dimensions
My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Firefox 92.0, No Flash versions detected
When you upload an image to Scratch, the image dimensions get halved.
I made a 500x500 image in MS Paint:

Then, I uploaded the same image to Scratch:

However, as you can see, in the second image, the dimensions are 250x250 px and not 500x500, the original file size.

A similar bug that I have experienced when uploading an image to Scratch is when I upload a complex picture, and Scratch automatically converts it to Bitmap, and suddenly when I convert it to vector, the size suddenly cuts down and the picture goes to the far left side of the screen. Check if you are converting a .png image to a vector after Scratch converts it to a bitmap - it is a common error that I experience. I'm not exactly sure if this is the same bug, but perhaps it is happening due to a common reason.

it's supposed to be like that because bitmap sprites are limited to 480x360 so it can't go larger than the stage's dimensions

I think so, yeah. I could see the argument that bitmap sprites should be able to be bigger than the stage, since vector ones are. But right now they're not, so that might be a better fit for Suggestions.it's supposed to be like that because bitmap sprites are limited to 480x360 so it can't go larger than the stage's dimensionsReported to be closed, as this is an intentional feature.
