Latin language

I have noticed that, in extensions where you can choose a language, there is no “Latin” option. I request to see the Latin language imported into language selection in extension blocks. Thank you!

Hi, I'm minecson, a Christian who is a little too obsessed with FNaF-ish things (mainly Treasure Island). Oof.

Moved to Suggestions, but does Latin even have any native speakers anymore? Scratch translations generally exist so that it is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of their language. I'm not sure there's much value in making a Scratch translation for a dead language.

Which extension blocks are you referring to, though?

I believe it's the Google Translate extension blocks that the OP is referring to.

There is only a select few languages that the Scratch's Translate extension can translate to, out of all the available options on Google Translate, and Latin isn't one of them.

I am neutral on this, and I'm just posting to clarify.

Semi support, although there are cases where you may want to do this it is just best to learn the language and gain a life skill.

Nothing here.

Learning a language takes time and dedication, and Latin really isn't all that useful as a spoken language anymore.

Historians use Latin to translate documents about the Roman Empire.

In everyday use however it's not very useful

Let's not stray too far from the topic here.

No support, latin is dead, it is only useful to historians. This is like adding heiroglyphics to scratch.

The translate extension was for making projects more accessible to people that speak different languages. Who uses Latin daily as their first language or writes hieroglyphics nowadays?

I disagree, Latin is also used in Science, as mottoes, and is even used in the English language, a lot. For example, in, it, and professor are all Latin words. The word “University” is based off of “Univeritas”. The Scientific name for a lion is “Panthera leo”, which is Latin. So, Latin isn't only useful for historians. I would also like to point out that hieroglyphics are much, much older than Latin. But yes, Latin no longer has native speakers, but you can still find it pretty much anywhere (In the US, at the very least, and the UK too, actually, anywhere England had colonies at). (Also, if you want to know something funny, “forum' means ”market“, so this entire time we've been using the ”discussion markets“.)

Adding Latin into the Google Translate extension doesn't seem like the best option to have. It likely be better to have a language that is still largely spoken. (I say as Ego linguae Latinae disco.)
I'm not sure if it should be Ego or Vos or something else. There might not even be a word before ”linguae". :P

True. In fact, “One Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy 7 has Latin lyrics.

As I see it, Latin is just English but with different word choice.

Also, name at least 3 countries that use Latin as their language.

Actually, no, it's the other way around. English is Latin but with different grammar, word choice, and pronunciation. (Usually) English is also just a big blob of multiple languages, anyways. (Latin came before English.) However, there are some words we just straight up stole. Like professor.

With some differences, such as there being no w in Latin, which is replaced with vv.
