Help Section for Blocks
I noticed that not all blocks - or even whole section - are completed with help…'articles'. I was wondering who was doing this and if it would be a help if certain Scratchers could contribute to the information missing.
Would this be possible and would anyone be interested in helping?

ProgrammingFreakOnce I get a little bit more experience, I could happily help with that.

ProgrammingFreakI noticed that there's no information stored in the “Help” section as well, and I'd be happy to help contribute to them if I was given permission!

veggieman001yes! great idea. i dont like how the wiki is so… hidden in the current scratch 1.4 site
It'd be especially nice if there were a link to the Scratch Wiki at the bottom as well.

Yes, veggieman that would also be an improvement. I feel like no one even knows all the stuff they could learn from the wiki. >_>

Cool- and thanks for offering! Natalie is working diligently on the help for each block - look for updates soon! I think she has a plan for most of them, so not sure if she'll be needing additional help or not.
re: Linking to wiki, as a kind of “see more” section for certain help screens. I pushed for this as well. There may be some situations in which we will do it, but probably not all of them. I'll mention it to Natalie.
(In general though, there's a plan to index the wiki in the sitewide search, so that should drive more traffic to content there as well.)

It's great to hear your offers of help, and I agree about making the wiki more visible.
My sense is that the wiki is especially good for those who want to go further in learning about Scratch, whereas the help is mostly geared for beginners.
For example, the wiki pages about each block have “workarounds” near the top of the page that would be confusing for beginners just learning what the block does. I think the pages could be revised to be more beginner friendly (e.g., workarounds closer to the bottom of the page). However, overall, it seems to me right now the great strength of the wiki is for diving deeper. Do you agree with that? Interested to hear your thoughts about this.

As an experienced programmer, but relatively new to Scratch, I found the Wiki immensely helpful for familiarizing myself with Scratch terminology and available blocks. The dockable, inline help, look very promising. I really like the How-To organization by project type. That is going to be very useful for beginners in familiarizing themselves with best practices for various projects.
If you need any help writing, reviewing or just some feedback from a less experienced Scratcher, please don't hesitate to ask. Keep up the amazing work.

The help looks great, but will it be translated into other languages just like on the old site?
It looks more complicated to translate since it (doesn't look like) HTML. Are you planning on having some special software then for anybody wishing to translate, like for example me?

The current plan is to translate the strings in the tips window using Scratch translation server, which is used now to translate other parts of Scratch website. You can find more information on the translation process in this post on Scratch forums.
