My browser / operating system: Windows 7, Firefox 89.0, No Flash version detected
I made some projects a few months back, i kept working on them in the offline editor, but when ever i try to replace the content files of the original scratch project with the newer one scratch keeps trying to upload it for about 30 mins and then it gives me the “Project could not save, please try again” error. It has been happening for months now and its annoying as all h*ll.

Some others had the same problems but i could not find a solution in their threads.
Please Help!

First option, download every costume and sound (right click then export, or follow this) and use your file manager to check the file size

Alternatively, download the project, and rename it from project.sb3 to project.zip, look inside the ZIP folder, and make sure the uncompressed file size of all files is less than 10MB (and make sure project.json is less than 5MB)

I think its 12MB, how would i lower it? can it not upload bigger files than 10MB?

For sounds: split it into multiple files (ex: 2 6MB files instead of 1 12MB file), use MP3 instead of WAV, and decrease the bitrate (you will need an external tool)

For images: decrease the image resolution (Bitmap only), use vector (SVG) instead of bitmap (PNG), and use vectorizer.io to make it less pixelated.

Just keep pressing retry until it works and if after 5 times it doesn't work, close the tab and open it again and load the file again. It usually works eventually unless your internet connection is bad or you have a 10+ MB asset.
