(I'm not talking about a Shrek profile picture like a static gif or a short gif)

I want to find a way to compress the Shrek movie down so much that it fits into a Scratch profile picture. If you've ever seen that one red dot post on d**kmemes(not risking the first word), you should know that someone made the shrek movie into a gif. All we need to do is compress it so much, it can fit within Scratch.

Is it pirating?
Well, do you wanna watch a hyper compressed super short movie with no sound?

It would have to be like 3 seconds long and be hyper compressed, but I think we can do it.

One piece of information that we have, is that the file is 39.8 megabytes, and its 60x60. So we don't need to worry about the resize, just the hyper compression.

This is the gif itself, right? 39.8 megabytes is fairly large. Try lowering the framerate. if you compress it enough, I'd think a good 30 seconds would be possible

The post on the sub red dot d**kmemes has a gif of it on there it has 144k upvotes

Though, I suppose I could record the whole thing from hulu, not sure of the legality of it tho so Idk which to risk, d**kmemes or hulu being mad at us

I can't access reddot because I'm at school rn. Anyways, I think the format reddit uses for a GIF is actually an mp4 or something (right click on a gif in reddit and I think it's actually an mp4 video). I doubt this would be possible.
Maybe I can check at home.

ezgif, 5 frames 60 seconds, doesn't last long unfortunately

This is as far as I got it so far to where you can use it as a profile picture If you want to see it for yourself.

5 frames per second, 60 seconds, max lossy compression, 21(or 22) percent duplicate frames removed

If we could just compress the video a ton before we turn it into a gif(like, 5 frames per second, 10p) it might be possible

I tried a go at this:



I found that it's harder to go from 1 MB to 500 KB than it is to go from 10 MB to 1 MB. It pained me at the end when I had to remove every other frame, as before then you could actually make out what was going on. But hey, it's got more than 10 colors. Also, it's not a square because I forgot how to add padding in ezgif, if you could even do that.
