Why does scratch have random lag spikes?

Why does scratch have weird lag spikes? No matter what project I load, or what device I use, or what network i'm using, projects always run smoothly, have a lag spike for 1-2 seconds, and continue as normal. Is there any way to prevent this?

You can use Turbowarp to run Scratch projects faster and smoother.

If thousands of people are on scratch at the same time, loading projects, etc., then it would be laggy yes.
