Space-Time Travel Extension | Request From General Relativity Incorporated to the Scratch Community | General Relativity Incorporated Terms of Use
Good day (or night, or evening, or whatever time it is wherever you are) everyone. My name is Albert, Chief Executive Officer of General Relativity Incorporated. I am speaking to you from the other side of the galaxy, thanks to the help of my cousin and handyman Terry, who has just finalized the invention of a device that allows me to speak across space and time. We have been using Scratch to teach our newcomers the fundamentals of programming, and although Scratch coding seminars only last one day (before moving on to higher-level programming), we are impressed at your ability to be able to teach coding so quickly and efficiently. However, we have an idea that could help revolutionize Scratch: programming through space and time.
SPACE-TIME TRAVEL EXTENSION
Why would you want to do this? Would it not be great to program across space and time? You can meet your great grandparents and program with them, maybe teach them a few things about programming. Or maybe you want to visit aliens on another planet, or even me in my office! In any way, you probably would not want to not support this idea.
This will be achieved through a “space-time travel” extension, which includes blocks such as the following:
If you would like to meet me, my office is located on the 84th floor of General Relativity Incorporated Headquarters.
More ideas are to come later.
But Albert, you might ask, how do I code through space and time? Do I need to own a time machine or anything?
We have some good news and bad news. The good news is, you do not need to own a time machine or anything; General Relativity Inc. will provide the relevant resources for you. The bad news is, we have not yet fully understood how to transport matter across the space-time continuum, so we will need your help.
REQUEST TO THE SCRATCH COMMUNITY:
This is where you, members of the Scratch community, come in. Terry believes that objects conceived by the creative mind carry special quantum properties that render them super useful for space-time travel research. We are asking for your help as have noticed extraordinarily high quantities of creativity on this website, so we request anyone to donate any object of interest to General Relativity Inc., which me and my cousin Terry will take to our secret laboratory in an undisclosed location somewhere in this universe for our research into space-time travel. The more you help us, the quicker we get our research done.
I will be seeing you around, looking for your contributions to General Relativity Incorporated.

Or maybe you want to visit aliens on another planet, or even me in my office! In any way, you probably would not want to not support this idea.
This will be achieved through a “space-time travel” extension, which includes blocks such as the following:
when I arrive at my destination :: hat penHere you do what you want your program to do when you arrive.
set time to y: () m: () d: () h: () m: () s: () :: penTime travel to this time. The former m means month, and the latter m means minutes, by the way. (but you probably figured it out already)
resolve all paradoxes :: penSometimes, time travel can lead to instabilities across the space-time continuum. So this is a must for anyone willing to use this extension.
set space coordinates to x: () y: () z: () [light-years v] :: penTakes you to the point in space defined by these coordinates. The drop-down can be set to meters for short-distance travel, too. Now I understand the origin is undefined. In that case, we also need a block to define the origin:
set origin of space to [General Relativity Inc. HQ v] :: penOther options include, but are not limited to:
- MIT
- Niagra Falls
- The center of the universe
- The center of the Milky Way
- Sirius B
- Andromeda
- α Canis Majoris
meet [] :: penVisit your heroes from the past, or maybe your descendants from the future! Do note that you do have to travel to the proper point in space and period in time to be able to achieve this. For safety reasons, you may not take this person with you for future travels.
If you would like to meet me, my office is located on the 84th floor of General Relativity Incorporated Headquarters.
complete disinfect :: penIn case you travel to a time of a pandemic, you would not want to carry the disease across space and time with you.
([x v] position in space in [light-years v] :: pen)Returns your position in space, in the respective unit of distance.
(current [year v] as read by travel :: pen)This block exists to ensure you will never be lost in time.
<[] is present? :: pen>This block detects if a specified person is within your vicinity.
More ideas are to come later.

Space-Time Travel Extension | Request From General Relativity Incorporated to the Scratch Community | General Relativity Incorporated Terms of Use
TERMS OF USE:
1. General Relativity Incorporated's Terms of Use (“Terms”) take precedence over every other Term of Use in the universe. To make up for this, it will be effective for only one day of the year, and only for the discussion forums and my profile. We have decided to set this date to April 1, for it is the date of birth of three of my great-great-grandfathers, all of whom pioneered the research into space-time travel and developed the prototype of the space-time speaker. (which Terry just completed and I am using now to speak to you)
2. These Terms are the exclusive property of General Relativity Incorporated (“we”, “us”, “our”, “General Relativity Inc.”, “Me and my cousin Terry”). No third party may attempt to unlawfully use, modify, hamper, challenge, or exploit these Terms under any condition.
3. Me, my cousin Terry, Rentzes, these Terms, and the company name are the exclusive property of General Relativity Inc. and may not be unlawfully used, modified, hampered, challenged, or exploited under any condition.
4. The Terms of Use of the website on which this thread is established take second precedence.
5. Any product of our interest you name and/or share on the forums will be viewed as donations, and thus implies you provide your consent for us to freely take it for our research without prior permission or notice. In exchange, we will provide you with a fixed number of Rentzes, depending on the value and scarcity of the product.
6. If we have taken one of your products and you would like to dispute our action and would like the product returned, you may send an appeal below in this thread.
Your appeal must include the following:

- the product of interest.
- the amount of Rentzes you will have had promised.
- an agreement stating that you will return the amount of Rentzes we will have had promised you.
- a DOI to the notice sent by us. (since the notice is probably posted on an online discussion board, a URL will suffice)
- a compelling argument between 20 and 30 words explaining why we should return your product.

FAQ:
Q: Is your profile icon a photo of you?
A: Yes, that is me! I was delivering a keynote at General Relativity Incorporated Headquarters about a new project we had worked on. One of the photographers from backstage came up to me and told me to smile. I already smiled a lot that day, so I instead stuck my tongue out.
Q: Why is your profile icon in grayscale?
A: Terry removed the color from the photo (and the photos of every employee at General Relativity Inc.) so he could build a color-powered electric generator for the space-time speaker.
Q: What are Rentzes?
A: Rentzes (singular: Rentz) is the name of the currency used by General Relativity Inc. The exchange rates are currently unknown, but rest assured that no matter how much we give you, you will be provided with sufficient wealth for you to use wherever and whenever you want.
Q: How long has General Relativity Incorporated been using Scratch?
A: We have been using Scratch every day since the alpha release of 1.0.
Q: Who is Einstein?
A: Unfortunately, I could ask the same question, for I do not know anybody named Einstein. I am mononymous identified as Albert.

I do not understand. Last year I was sitting in my office with a paycheck of 2000 Rentzes. Besides, it is hard to define last year nowadays. Aren't you the moderator from last year who closed a bunch of topics for not being cool enough?

Exactly how does the paradox resolution block work?
Like, what if I agree to the Terms of Service, then travel to a point in time before I agreed to the terms of service? I am now no longer beholden to a Terms of Service, so does this allow me to do anything I want? And does the paradox resolution block do anything about this?

I will have to ask Terry. I put him in charge of everything. Exactly how does the paradox resolution block work?

Pretty sure it's supposed to resolve all paradoxes. It's not that hard to explain. See, what you describe is a “problem” (or “paradox”), and so the “resolve all paradoxes” block will fix everything. Just put your faith in it. Exactly how does the paradox resolution block work?

Thank you for your kind donations. Me and my cousin Terry will now take the toaster and transport it to our secret laboratory to aid us with our research on space-time travel. We will have paid you 90 Rentzes 7 hours ago once the results are final. You can have a toaster to study.

With this extension, I will be able to travel the universe, conquering more and more galaxies as I go.
In the meantime, though, please have this computer to expand your research.
