Scratch 1.4 >> 2.0?

Why did Scratch 1.4 turn into 2.0 and not 1.5?

I have a Steam account. If you have one too, feel free to add me to your friends list.
Also check out my YouTube channel if you like the outdoors, Minecraft, cars, roller coasters, etc.

Because it's a complete re-write, rather than just new features added over the top of existing code.

Yeah, there were many new blocks, the website looks different, DjangoBB instead of FluxBB on the forums, an online editor - there were lots of changes.

So in Scratch 1.4 you could only view projects online and you had to download them to edit them?

Pretty much. To remix, you downloaded, edited, and then re-uploaded the project. It wasn't as efficient, but it worked.

Ah, good ol' times. A super-slow Java player, and you had to download projects to edit them. Then the Flash Player came around, which was much faster. In 2010 there was the experimental online viewer, which let you edit projects, but not create projects, costumes, backgrounds, sounds, or pretty much anything. You also couldn't save projects. Yay, progress!

At least there were TBG forums. I was never on Scratch when they were around, so instead I actively play them at tbgs.tk. ;D
